The hotel was right in the middle of everything! With a great location, excellent staff, amazing pub downstairs, and reasonable pricing, I'd gladly stay there again. Only one issue: the fitness 'center' was not much bigger than a closet and in no way constitutes a fitness 'center' title.
Nice place, good location. Good Irish pub restaurant
Very nice, comfortable hotel. Across street from Xcel center. Really enjoyed the stay.
The staff was very nice and attentive. The only problem during my stay was that they gave me a room with a broken air condition. The air condition was replaced the first day I stayed there. Everything else was fine. I also liked the italian restaurant close by. It was good.
Please let your patrons know up front that there is a $20 charge to park in the hotel lot...as this adds to the cost of the room! Not such a great deal, in my opinion! Also, there was a tile propped against the backside of the bathroom door which needed to be glued on...do the cleaning staff not clean back there???? Be aware that at 2 am local festivals finish and the floors fill with roudy folks returning from their various activities.
across the street from the xcel center, went to see a concert. staff very friendly, lots within walking distance. had a great time.
Very convient to get across the street to watch the hockey game. Clean rooms, nice pool. Restaurant is nice but always seems to be very busy so hard to get a seat at times.
This hotel and staff where unbelievable. I can not say enough good words, treated us as if we where family. Location can not be beat for catching a show or event at the Excel Energy Center. Great time, little pricy but if you book in advance deals are to be had.
My boyfriend & I, and one other couple came up to the Cities for a concert over the 4th of July. The hotel was located very close to the river, and right up the street from a number of different small bars and restaurants. The view from our room looked over the river and was BEAUTIFUL! Super clean room, and great for the price, even had our own private parking ramp. Would definitely stay here again if visiting St Paul in the future.
We were pleasantly surprised at this hotel. For the price we expected either an older hotel or poor location. Neither could be further from the truth. The location for St. Paul activities is excellent -- just across the street from the Science Museum and the Target Center. It was a cold, rainy night and the staff fired up their shuttle to run us around the block to the Target Center entrance and then came back to get us after the play!
This is an average hotel, clean, decent service. The location is usually what brings me here- close to Wild games and the Rivercenter. Had to pay for parking. The rooms are small. Room service so so.
The Holiday Inn Downtown St. Paul provided reasonable accommodations for my 3 day stay. Rooms are snug and clean. The place seemed well maintained, although the staff skipped cleaning my room the first night after I missed the morning cleaning round because I was catching up on some work at the desk in my room and didn't leave for my events until 1pm. Everything worked and the free wireless internet was a plus. This is not a luxury hotel by any means. It has a tiny lobby with no room for lounging and the decor is almost non-existent. It does have a small indoor pool and exercise room. The Liffey Irish Pub and restaurant is attached and seemed fine of its type. Food was reasonably priced (for a hotel) and there are many better dining options within a few blocks of the Holiday Inn. Terrific location if you are in town for a game, concert or event at the Excell Energy Center or other downtown St. Paul venue.
If you're going to an event at the excel center this is more than perfect. Right across the street with restauants and/or bars directly across street as well as restaurant and bar at hotel. No parking or driving worries. Street atmosphere great.
A nearby hospital listed this as a nice hotel with shuttle service to hospital. As a Holiday Inn, I hoped to rely on their reputation for cleanliness. We didn't spend much time in the room since our family member was in critical condition at the hospital. The night that the room was very much needed for sanctuary, had no air-conditioning and the television didn't work. The manager told me that It was my fault for not telling them about the air-conditioning, yet the housekeepers must have realized that it was unusual for a room to be 90 degrees with the air-conditioning on. I don't think it would have been appropriate to have a maintenance crew in the room while we were trying to find solace with one another I find it hard to believe that this was my fault, and have received no apology from the manager. I will never again trust Holiday Inn, for this weekend will remain in my memory for a very long time. I only hope the pain and guilt subside since I was responsible for my brothers' comfort and let him down big time.
Gave me a SMOKING room, although I requested NON_Smoking. Couldn't change rooms, couldn't get a refund
