I just liked the ambiance. Not the same old place, just like a million others. Very comfortable and the staff was great.
I had to go home eventually.
Staff was great and constantly trying to help. Quaint and old world charm. They even supplied ear plugs for the traffic noise, which was a nice touch.
Did not expect it to be as out dated as it was. If you want to experience old world charm, you will love it. But some of the items I expected where not there. No closet - this being said, when I asked, they brought a rolling coat rack to the room.
Unique, attention to detail, inventive excellence in dining, antique furniture and appliances, not a chain or an American stereotypical hotel
Excellent atmosphere! The red glass, furniture, and candles really set the place apart. The room was clean had a great view. Finally, the bar in the basement was top notch! The bartenders were well spoken, friendly, and could make great drinks.
A continental breakfast would be a great addition. The Ocho right next door is very nice, but having a small breakfast in the dining area of the hotel would be an great, easy, less formal alternative.
Charm, and great location off river walk. Ni ice restaurant ... Helpful and pleasant staff.
Some noise from vestibule, as we were close to the lobby area. Small annoyance but not a huge deal.
It has character and history. Not right downtown but close enough.
Beautiful Cuban/Spanish style hotel loaded with antiques. Excellent staff and immaculate cleanliness..They run a tight ship.
If I had to pick something, I wish the parking lot was a little bigger ..however it was perfectly liveable with any normal size car..an extended cab pickup or dually would have problems. .
Staff was very friendly and room had a comfortable bed, clean restroom, and stocked fridge.
We have been wanting to stay at this hotel for the past 2 years now, and finally made it happen. This hotel highly exceeded our expectations. All the staff were extremely friendly, and were always willing to help with questions. The breakfast was outstanding in the OCHO Lounge. The banana bread and homemade tortillas were the best I have ever had in my life. My husband is a chef, so when we go out to eat he is a huge food critic, and he LOVED the food! The only thing I would recommend, is if you are looking for a quieter room, I would request one on the top floor, as this is an old hotel and the hard would floors tend to squeak. Other than that, we had a fabulous stay and will definitely be back!
The Hotel Havana is such an excellent experience. It's not too stuffy, it's not too funky for it's own good, it's not too pretentious, it's not too expensive, it is not too trendy,in fact, it's not too anything... it's perfect! It is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and I travel A LOT. It has just the right amount of hip decor and ambiance. It is has a superb and friendly staff. It has an excellent restaurant attached to it called OCHO. In 3 days I ate there twice, not because of convenience (which goes without saying) but because of great food. I am from New York, where great food abounds. My palate is very 'well raised'... Ocho has wonderful food. The Havana has a lovely public front porch. We adored just sitting out on the porch and relaxing. Each floor also has a public balcony (above the porch, respectively), in in front of the building. Overall I highly recommend Hotel Havana. I stayed at one of it's sister hotels in Austin, Hotel Sante Fe. That was very different than the Havana but had the same hip, high quality and elegance that this hotel owner obviously knows how to manifest. Bravo!
