Burley Manor truly is a unique place to stay. It’s set in an 800-year-old estate, putting eight acres of gardens and grounds at your disposal and extending into Burley Park deer sanctuary. The building itself is a baronial manor built in 1852. It offers a private sanctuary for a tranquil getaway, surrounded by green forests. You can also enjoy premium-grade meals at the hotel, which is widely renowned for its restaurant.
Given that this is an unusually large old country house, all the rooms at Burley Manor have their own individual designs, offering various choices for guests. An excellent option is the Classic room, located on the ground floor in the manor's garden wing. It boasts views across the deer park and landscaped grounds. The room is stocked with Temple Spa products, and the furnishings are genuine antique pieces.
The cordon bleu in-house restaurant at Burley Manor is the self-declared centrepiece of the hotel. A team of chefs continually crafts original dishes using seasonal local produce, from pannage pork from Burley village to scallops hand-picked on the shores of the Scottish Isles. Consequently, the menu is an eclectic and always interesting mix of ideas, with unique variations on traditional British dishes and Mediterranean cuisine. There is also a strong emphasis on slow food preparation methods.
Business guests are well catered for at the hotel in its New Forest Business Retreat. The meeting rooms benefit from the same historical heritage as the bedrooms, with original vaulted ceilings and oak tables. Together they can accommodate up to 120 people and can be configured for several different uses, from very small private meetings to larger brainstorming sessions and business presentations.
Personal wellness is also high on the agenda at the hotel. Its spa exclusively uses Temple Spa treatment products and emphasises the use of natural botanical ingredients along with Derma science. The spa offers everything from body scrubs, wraps and infusions, to wellbeing facials and skin-boosting prescription treatments. Then there are top-to-toe relaxing massages, deep tissue massages or thermal stone massages for you to choose from. The brush massage is also something worth experiencing if you haven’t tried one yet.
The nearest commercial airport to Burley is Southampton Airport. It’s about 25 miles away along the M27 motorway. The journey will take you roughly 30min if you’re going by car. Alternatively, you can get to the hotel from the airport by taking an airport shuttle to Southampton Central Station for a train to Brockenhurst Station. Alighting there, you can catch an NFB bus to Burley’s main Queen’s Head stop. This will all take just over an hour and a half.
