Pros:Gorgeous views of course, some hiking options nearby, and it's a way to break the NiN trip in two days if you don't want to do it all in one long day. Rooms are old, but clean and quaint. Our large window offered very good view of the valley below. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Cons:Large tourist groups can get loud and ruin the peace. We thought the buffet was okay (both dinner and breakfast). It wasn't necessarily a problem with quality, it just want to our taste. Everything seemed extra salty.
Pros:The Stalheim was amazing! It felt genuine and historic. I imagine it is just how it has always been. The grounds were beautiful with many nearby hikes. The view was incredible and I felt so at home in the guest lounge. There were multiple fireplaces. The staff was very kind and helpful. There is a buffet that has so many nicely prepared items. My room was the cutest room I've ever stayed in in my life. Straight out of another era. I enjoyed the big antique bathtub.
Cons:At some times the hotel and restaurant became very crowded with tourists that arrived on a bus. I found some of them rude at the buffet. This was not the hotel's fault. Other times, it felt like there were only a few guests. I preferred those times.
Pros:The view from this hotel is incredible! We did the Norway in a nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo and chose to stay here and we are so happy we did. Beautiful views, lovely historic hotel and the loveliest lounge to enjoy a drink before bed.
Cons:No WiFi in the rooms.
