Clean, quiet and out of the way. The hotel staff was very friendly, spoke good english and were helpful. The room was small, but clean and more than I expected for the price. I really liked the location of the Esaka area and while you need to take a train to any tourist sightseeing, I equally enjoyed the small parks, the random rice field the size of city blocks, the non-tourist shopping places, the things I found in Esaka. One thing about traveling to Japan that I would like to comment on is English, some people told me no one speaks English and some people said everyone speaks English. I found the later to be true, but it's misleading. They all do learn English, but it isn't used that much and they can go years without speaking any. So it is like someone coming to you out of the blue and asking an algebra question when you haven't used algebra in years. Be Patient, or Be Polite and learn some Nihongo.
