Did not get rental car because when I went to pick it up, I was told I would be charged double the price stated on Kayak because this location does not allow after hours drop off and would be required to keep it until Monday at my expense. The Hertz agent blamed Kayak.

The Tuscaloosa, AL location is based solely on customer returns, meaning if other people don’t return their vehicle on time there is not one available for you. This happened to me and multiple other customers before the holidays, and I ended up unable to go on my vacation because despite a reservation I was never given a car. I’m still in a financial battle with Hertz to get my money back. They only have an unhelpful website, and claim a 5% fee to talk to an actual human being on the phone. Utterly ridiculous.

Cons:

Would have enjoyed one or two more options to select which vehicle I could have driven out. There was only one choice provided.

It was OK it could have been better.

Cons:

Hey just picked up the car had a little problem with it before I went out of town had to fix flat, had a screw inside the tire . I called back to Enterprise they wanted to put me in a van I said I wanted something like the size car that I rented and paid for . They said they didn't have anything and I ask if I could drive to Birmingham , he said that it is Father's Day weekend and then they said they didn't know if they would even have one at that location. It didn't sound like they want to really take care of my problem so I didn't like the manager He seem to have an attitude that I was calling about the rental and I am a company

The car I reserved was not ready. Employee was rude and stopped helping me to eat a biscuit. Had to get manager who was not much help. Upgraded to a Cadillac with broken touch screen dash. Only allowed Spanish language. Bad experience

It was very helpful that we could pick up the car in a non-airport location and drop it off at the airport we were flying out of.

Cons:

We had a reservation but had to wait for the car to be cleaned when we arrived at Enterprise. The cleanliness of the car was fair, but not great.

The rental price.

Cons:

Credit report refused me to be able to rent car. Since reservation was made on line over the weekend it left me scrambling to get a rental. I would have been willing to pay a double deposit to secure car. On a side note, when you are dealing with an emergency, this is not how you want to be handled.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
