This spot was used for our annual sister circle getaway. The beds were comfortable the rooms were large for two people and the bathroom water was hot. I was very happy with my stay.
Good, clean, excellent location, helpful staff, convenient parking, ok breakfast, reasonable price. But only two elevators and no service elevator for 10 floors and about 200 rooms.
We have stayed at 3 oceanfront hotels in Virginia Beach in the last 3 summers incuding this one this summer. All, like this one, were national chains, and of the 3, this was probably the best.It is well located on the beach, with great views of the ocean from the rooms, all of which face the water. The walk to the beach and boardwalk is short and pleasant. On the good side, besides the views and being centrally located on the board walk, the hotel was clean and generally well run. My wife, 2 teenage sons and I loved the free breakfasts (plenty of choices, all yu can eat, ok to good taste). The fact that the dining room also faced the boardwalk and the beach gave us a really nice sight to see to start our day.Our room was a standard size, with 2 double beds, and the beds were comfortable. The indoor pool, which we used every day after coming in from the beach, is a little on the small side for the number of people who use it, but otherwise it was always clean and orderly, and our trips there were enjoyable. There was always available parking either in the lot in front of the hotel or in the hotel
We arrived approx. at 1:00 and was told the room wasn't ready for us. It took until 4:05 pm for the room to be ready. I realize that check-in is 4:00 (which is very late in comparison to other hotels) but why not hire more house keeping staff and resolve the late check-ins. There were many people waiting for their room on this day and this problem simply should not have occured. Please hire more staff during the summer months as I'm sure you realize that is a simple problem to solve.
We had an exceptional experience at the Holiday Inn in 2009, so decided we would like to stay there again. Initially everything was good. A young man from housekeeping showed up early the first day, I asked for five minutes so we could pack up for the beach. He was very gracious and when we returned later he had done an exceptional job, the room was beautiful. The following day, housekeeping didn't come around until about 4PM. When we returned to the room, it was a disaster. I had requested that the linens be changed and they were not. There was sand on the floor so no vacuuming had been done. The coffee maker was left dirty with no new supplies. There were no new cups. Basically, they gave us fresh towels and made the beds. We always leave a tip for housekeeping and were glad we did the first day but regretted it the second. When we were returning from dinner that evening, I stopped at the front desk to tell them about my experience. I received an apology and she asked if there was anything she could do. I asked for some cups and she looked at me as though I had spoken a foreign language. I explained that the hotel provides cups for their patrons for drinks and she told me she had no idea what I was talking about as she has never been in any of the rooms in the hotel! She told me she would leave a note for the manager that was coming in at 11PM and they would contact us but needless to say...that never happened.
The hotel was quite nice though nothing spectacular. We were pleased w/the appearance, cleanliness and upbeat attitude of the staff. It was difficult to find a hotel offering two QUEEN BEDS...& this is their standard room; VERY comfortable! QUIET! We enjoyed the ocean side balcony & watched the dolphins each morning. The bathroom was spacious w/a multi-setting shower, great water pressure & plenty of hot water. We enjoyed a virtually sound proof room, not disturbed w/noise from the adjacent rooms or the hallway. The wireless internet was average speed, access required a secure sign-on, which is good. Free printing & 2 PCs are provided off the main lobby. The dining room was nicely appointed w/ample seating & had a dining terrace ocean side. The breakfast buffet offered many selections of hot and cold food and drinks. The indoor pool was conveniently located adjacent to the elevator and lobby w/a secure door to an outdoor patio. The hot tub was really small, 4 quests, but nice. Again, I was happy w/my hotel selection but thought it should have been a little less $, especially during mid May. We would stay there again, and suggest it to our out of state guests.
My husband and I stayed here 2 nights with our children in August 2010. The hotel was nice. All the rooms face the ocean and have a small balcony. Our room was pretty, not very :), clean-- I'm pretty particular, though. The free breakfast was ok. We ate at Pocahontas Pancake House the next morning--a nice walk down the boardwalk. The location was nice, we parked in front of the hotel and walked everywhere. Parking is very tight, but available. The photos on the hotel website are stock photos, not the actual hotel. The pool is small but we were not there to swim laps. We were not disappointed and would stay here again.
My wife and I took a four-day weekend trip to Virginia Beach. We chose this hotel because of its location. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The hotel and rooms were kept very clean. The room was amazing! It was very clean and homey. The view from the balcony was incredible from beautiful sunny days to romantic nights. One morning we witnessed a breath-taking sunrise. The local restaurants provided wonderful atmospheres, good service and delicious food. This vacation really took our minds off the real world for a weekend and we can't wait to go back again!
this hotel has the best employees. i am a business traveler and stay at a lot of hotels. from the front desk to the engineer to the housekeepers, it was nothing but smiles. the continental breakfast is enjoyable, small, but very convenient. everything ran smoothly. i would definitely stay there again on my next trip to virginia beach!
I have been traveling back and forth to VA Beach to visit my son and have stayed in other Holiday Inns. This one was by far the best! The staff was wonderful, the location was wonderful and the rooms were immaculate. Now I know where to stay every time I visit.
Just returned from our vacation to Virginia Beach. We stayed at this hotel. I was expecting more from Holiday Inn. I think we paid a fair price for our room but housekeeping is not very good. For two out of our 8 night stay our room was still not clean by 5:00 p.m. The pool water was cloudy all week and the whirlpool did not work during our stay. On the positive side we had a nice (though small) balcony which we enjoyed and the hotel was very quiet and close to the center of the evening outdoor activities.
The stay was very good, the pool was very dirty with way too much chlorine. the hot tub was milky and in need of a lot of attention. The dining room experience was horrible. We ask for coffee and water and got coffee and hot water. I had to explain to the waiter who could not understand me at all what a glass of water was and then he bought it to us straight from the tap with no ice. the service was very poor. None of the waiters could speak real good enblish and could not bring you what you wanted. the food for the buffett was sparce and the fruit had flies in it. Definitely would not eat in the restaurant again. Never swim in the pool you just might catch something. My grandson broke out in hives from the chlorine. I am a traveler with a disability and the room for disabled is definitely not for the person with arthritis and bending over problems. NOT DISABLED PERSON FRIENDLY AT ALL...TERRIBLE
We arrived with a reservation made in advance. Upon entering room, there was a mostly used roll of toilet paper with no replacement roll, no kleenex and no soap or other toiletry items. Additionally, there was food residue inside the refrigerator, sand and dirt on the bathroom floor, a significant amount of dust on all of the furniture and dog hair all over the floor. The beds were not comfortable (I am used to uncomfortable beds, so this is saying something). The room was not consistently stocked with the above items, even after asking nicely on more than one occasion. The hot tub jets were broken and the pool towels were frequently out of stock in the pool area. There are several other hotels of similar price along the beach, and I have stayed at a few of them. This was the worst hotel I have stayed at in Va Beach compared to others of comparable price. I would recommend this hotel only if all others are booked and you really want to stay on the beach with an ocean view.
View of ocean from room. Great service from staff. However, there were many high school kids staying there and so the noise level was high. Room was marginally clean, showed sign of an aging hotel with lots of use.
We will most definately be staying at this hotel again.\nStaff was very pet friendly. Pets stay on one floor. \nHotel was very clean, cleaning staff was there every day.\npool was warm and clean.\nThe suite we stayed in was in tip top condition, couldn't ask for better.\n\n
I did a good amount of research prior to booking in this hotel and I was a bit surprised in the overall condition. It is 'worn' and not very clean. I expected some sand, as it is the beach, but enough is enough. The pool is very small and dirty; we had two consecutive days of so-so weather, and I still did not even consider using the pool/jacuzzi. This is your basic hotel room, and probably a decent choice for those on a budget. The location is great, but I am still going to go elsewhere if I return.
This hotel is pet friendly. My family woke up to a barking dog at 7:45am. It could happen to you. Reservations were wrong and staff did not take responsibility for their mistakes. Kids eat free but the restaurant is understaffed and service is slow. We love VB but we will stay elsewhere next visit.
