This was a last minute booking and I am very happy that I made it. La Quinta has super comfy beds and pillows. We slept very well!
The room was nice and clean. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was found wanting. I know a continental breakfast isn't much, but a hard boiled egg and bagel were the only choices. Thankfully the hotel is right next to a Denny's.
This wasn't what I expected. In the pictures, they show a one king sized bed with a microwave and a fridge, but when we got there, we realized that only half the rooms have king sized beds, fridges, and microwaves. The other half has two twin beds, no fridge, or microwave. The bathroom was probably as small as a bathroom could get. The shower/tub was decent, but in the crevices of the wall there was a yellowing area which suggests its either old or not cleaned very well. The toilet wasn't very clean and had rust residue on the bottom of the toilet bowl. The bed sheets didn't look changed, more like they just smoothed it out to look clean. The windows were very smudged and greasy. The curtains were broken so we could only close it from one end. The drawers weren't cleaned so if someone left something behind it would still be there for the next person to take. The ice machine on the third floor (where we were) was broken so every time you used it, it would leak all over the floor and eventually would leak through the ceiling on the second floor, which happened the next day. The breakfast was okay, not five-star, but there's a great Denny's next door if you want a really good breakfast. For the hotel, they have waffles you can make in the machine, yogurt, bread, a toast machine, bagels, on the first two days they had muffins but stopped bringing them out. They have a juice machine for orange and apple juice (which comes is very small cups, like a sampler cup). There is also a coffee machine and a microwave. In the corner there is apples, bananas, oatmeal, and cheerios. There are also boiled eggs they boil the night before. We were dissapointed when they did not provide the usual breakfast hotels provide, like scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, or pancakes. Later in the day, we went to the pool which is outdoors. It is satisfactory, but since it's outdoors it gets leaves and bugs. There is no lifeguard on duty and the pool only goes from 3 to 5 feet. Then, the elevator cou...
This was the Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. I've Never experienced staying at a hotel where people hang out in the hallways on the floor drinking late night. This Definitely should have Never been rated a *** star hotel more like a * star.
The Staff was super nice! the room was clean and nice. the bathroom a bit small. but other than that perfect!
The bed was very comfortable and the free breakfast was perfect.
The room was clean, the bed was great the tv was great, the staff was nice. The price was fantastic.
* Front desk seemed less competent/knowledgable per another person in my party *The back door lock had been broken into at some point and not yet repaired. *Rooms obviously not cleaned properly nor thoroughly ever. Carpet filthy, tiled floor not clean, smoke reaked in the hallways, curtains not cleaned-had old water spots on them, bedspreads and sheets and pillow cases smelled like smoke. *Coffee pot cracked and never replaced. The coffee maker was filthy, it appeared not ever been cleaned. I couldn't get a clean oz of water by removing filter and pouring in water, could see the old coffee stains in filter holder and the housing-just nasty. *Shower curtain rod was rusted, dirty curtains. *The bed had a firm mattress, but I couldn't sleep because of the smell of smoke burning throat, eyes, nose. I brought my own sheets and had to cover my face to sleep the 2-4 hours that I managed to get. *Fleas and knats in room *The breakfast was good-waffles. ----I have never experienced a hotel stay as I did at this hotel, a renovation is needed badly and just plain ole maintenance and cleaning.
Bed was comfy. Room was older, but well taken care of, would stay here for ONE night again.
The hotel was dirty aand quite shabby looking. I expeceted more, however for the priceyou get what you pay for.
The staff was courteous and accomodating. The room was ample for my needs and very clean. The showerhead was a little low, so you had to stoop under it, but I have found this in other hotels as well. Denny' is right next door, so great for a late night or early morning meal (staff was great there also). Overall a very nice experience!
This was a very run down hotel. The first room I was assigned was not made up. The front desk was nice about it and gave me a different room. The chair in the new one was very rickety. The bed was low quality, very squishy in the middle, but stiff on the edges. After lying in bed for a while, I got up to find an additional blanket. The hallway by the vending machines was full of leaves that had blown in, and reeked of cigarette smoke. This was inexpensive, but the worst La Quinta I have stayed in.
This hotel is in a good location to the things around the area. It's nothing fancy, but it is not over priced and there wasn't anything in particular that made the stay bad. At the same time there wasn't anything extraordinary about it either. I feel I got what I paid for and didn't leave feeling ripped off. The one con would be that this hotel doesn't have a lot of privacy. It was very easy for me to hear everything that was going on in my neighbors rooms.
Idealy situated for my needs at a time of family crisis.
We had limited contact with the staff, but they seemed very nice. The room wasn't as clean as I would have liked, but I'm a bit of a germaphobe. Overall, it was a good value.
Hotel smelled. Carpet dirty. Bathroom was dirty. Bedding looked like it was from the 1980's due to the poor condition.
Stayed here one night in January, off-season. Staff were pleasant at front desk. Light fixtures in room didn't work. (Fixture on wall between two beds.) Doubtful it was both of the compact flourescent bulbs, and can't imagine they weren't aware of this, as they would be the last lights one would use prior to going to sleep. So, I would say it was clean, pleasant enough, and the room had obvious issues that should have been attended to prior to my arrival, as they are not busy at this time of year.
When we checked in the gentleman at the desk was very nice. The rooms however were not. They were not clean. It started when I walked in the bathroom and there was hair on the floor and wall of the tub. Then I pulled the little table out to plug in my computer to expose trash and tissue. I then looked behind the bed just to look for bugs. NO BUGS!!! Lots of nasty hair and trash though. Time to leave!!!
I stay here about once a year and they seem to be consistent. Good location on the Norfolk-Virginia beach line. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. Good security. Very pet friendly. Avoid if you are here for the surf and sand as it is not near the beach, otherwise a good value for the money. Denny's next door and a dozen restaurants within a mile, some that deliver. It seems that half the people that stay here have dogs. I have a dog also which is why I choose this hotel. Rooms come with fridge, microwave, iron, coffee maker, etc. Free 'do it yourself' breakfast which is kinda fun; toast your bagels, make your own waffles, etc. This review, by the way, is for THIS LaAQuinta as the other two nearby are terrible.
this place looks nice but not very well keeped. i had no towels no soap no shampoo the carpet was pulling away from the wall the tub was stained so bad. i would not recommend this hotel ever
It was ok since I was traveling alone, but my wife would have checked out and found another hotel. The rooms were clean, but the hallways and other common areas were not. The hallways were kind of dark as well. My room's window looked out at a brick wall. The staff was friendly and helpful. Access to the parking lot is screwy. Took me some driving around to figure out which streets would get me into the parking lot, and which ones wouldn't.
The rooms are not clean. Hallway smell moldy and also smell like smoke. For the price I paid, there's nothing in the room except fo 2 bed, 1 table, 1 chair and a coffee make. The hotel website advertised that they have microwave and minifridge. It look more like a motel than a hotel. Toilet is dirty and has dark water stain at the bottom. There were ants crawling around in the first room they gave me so I had to switch to another room. The mirror at the sink chipped along the bottom. Though the customer service is very pleasant and they do offer continental breakfast.
rooms too close together, we could hear everything that was going on, every door shutting, every word and dog bark. It was a miserable three days. The highlight was the lady that cleaned our room, she was very pleasant and nice.
This hotel is a dump. The halls were dirty with no ac. Ice machine broken. Room was substandard. Not a value at all!!! The staff was very nice. This is my first and last time staying at the LaQuinta inn!!!!!!!
We were traveling with a 7 week old. The hotel was clean or I would have left. The staff is nice. Dennys is attached with is great.
Needs to be blown up to start over. Room not clean at all. Not up to La Quinta standards!
