The building housing the Hotel Ariele was built over two time periods. The first part was built from an old tower dating back to 1400, the second from a prestigious palace built in 1700.When Florence was the capital of Italy, at the end of 1800, the whole hotel was renovated by the famous architect Giuseppe Poggi, designer of Piazzale Michelangelo. In the past, the building has been home to various embassies and the residence of a number of famous Florentine families, including the Arcangeli of Strozzavolpe.Later transformed into a hotel, the building still maintains the style and atmosphere of an old noble Florentine home. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, in a quiet residential area, opposite the Teatro Comunale theatre.
