Car was ready on time, clean, low mileage. The criteria for reportable damage / non reportable was very clear. Drop off was easy and the contract was closed in less than a minute.

Pick up was difficult due to the language difference. They issued me a car and they couldn’t find it so they had to reissue me another car. Drop off was smooth and fast

Been hit with a 200 plus euro charge for a scratch on the alloy. I failed to spot it on my walk round at pick up, which you do on your own without staff. I have categorically not kerbed it driving out and about in the resort. On returning the car, a very thorough return inspection is done. The scratch on the alloy is not recorded so it’s now on me. The scratch is old by the way, and in keeping with the general condition of the car, which has racked up a fair few miles. 180 euro for the scratch to be repaired (which it won’t be) and a 50 euro admin fee. Be very careful when doing your unaccompanied walk round at pick up.

First car a/c was broken. Had a hard time contacting them, finally got a replacement— which had a tire with a slow leak.

They were courteous when I picked up the car. Spoke English well. There was not much of a wait to get service

Cons:

The GPS did not work well. The car would not start onthe last day of the trip and neither The Hertz office in Nice or in Spain would help. Allianz insurance would not help. The situation is still not resolved, I have spent 6 or more hours on the phone with only getting told "that I need to talk to a different Hertz office.

I booked a car for 6 passengers only to be told its not big enough for our luggage.I was given a bigger car that I had to pay for. Then I was told that the car I purchased didn't include any Insurance at all and that I was liable up to 25000 Euro. in all I had to pay approx. another $450 Euro for the car. I wont waste my time on the holiday complaining and reporting this abuse of vulnerable travellers(when they don't have another choice and cancellation is not allowed) but when I get back to Sydney I will be making formal complaints

Pros:

The car was clean and well maintained.

Cons:

The pick up and drop off experience could have been better. The staff was not very knowledgable regarding local laws even though they get tourists all the time. The rental was supposed to cost 240$ but they placed a hold of 1000$. Not sure if they are gonna remove that, or I'd have to talk to customer care to get that removed. Drop off was exceedingly painful with no clear instructions.

Good car, reasonable price

Cons:

Hidden "surcharge" fee with tax on that as well of course. No idea what this is for. I pre-paid with kayak and returned the vehicle in good order and full of fuel. Maybe there's a good reaon for it but certainly isn't explained in the invoice I've been sent after returning home.
