We drove 45 minutes across the city to the locations we were told to drop off the car at. We were also given a dropoff time that was the same as the closing time (which was noon and we were not notified that they closed at noon.) We arrived on time but could not find anywhere to park in the full lot. By the time we got in the door within 5 minutes of our dropoff time, the hertz desk was empty and there was no one to talk to. There was a key drop box by it said charges would accrue until the next employee arrived. It was the start of the long weekend. It also didn’t feel like the safest area and we were nervous that if something damaged the car over the weekend we’d be liable. We waited another 45 minutes on the phone to get through to customer service. I will say they did grant us a two hour extension and allowed us to drop it off at the airport (another 40 minutes away plus having to catch a shuttle) for only an extra $10 airport fee, but it was incredibly inconvenient. Our rental agreement said we were allowed a 59 minute grace period and nothing about the location closing. Everything else was fine about this rental but that kind of ate up a whole afternoon of our vacation.Reviewed May 26 2024

It was HORRIBLE and TIME-CONSUMING! We didn't notice that the car we rented was to be picked up at your location in downtown Denver; after first stopping at the Denver airport Hertz, your agent told us to go downtown Denver to pick it up. We waited 20 minutes for the train that took 30 minutes to go from the airport to downtown Denver, then Uber to your downtown location, which closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, and we finally got there at 6 p.m.! Therefore, we called, and you canceled it. Thank you. BUT, we WASTED A LOT OF OUR SHORT VISITING TIME WITH OUR FAMILY, CHASING DOWN OUR RENTAL, WHICH WE ULTIMATELY COULD NOT GET! Subsequently, we rented from another company. On the positive side, the Hertz representative whom we spoke to about this fiasco was very understanding, and, as I said, she canceled the reservation. Technically, this was our fault. I'm an old man and don't travel much now.Reviewed May 20 2024

Not only was the car when we finally got it filthy and the gentleman did offer to go back and clean it but the more important thing is it. It was a two hour and 15 minute wait because they had 16 people in line and one employee I mean there were people in front of me that were trying to return a car and it took two hours and 25 minutes to return the car. Extremely unprofessional and extremely frustrating to all the people that were in line.Reviewed Apr 9 2024

No vehicle (booked an Tesla) available at time of arranged collection. Offered a sub standard vehicle with no compensation, nor offered an alternative upgrade. I had to get a friend to take me to another site to pick up the Tesla. 2 hours delay on a very tight schedule day. Not happy, I would not use again.Reviewed Mar 31 2024

I request a car rental in Denver Airport and the reservation was made by mistake in Denver Downtown. I was unaware until I got to the airport and a Hertz employee explained that third parties sometimes do this when offering a best deal. However, by the time I got to Denver, the Downtown location was already closed. I hope no charge is made due to no show.Reviewed Dec 12 2023

After incorrectly being given an electric vehicle with no instructions other than “there’s an app somewhere that will help you find some chargers” as I prepared for a 14 hour trip, I got stranded on the side of the road heading to a family emergency where two family members were having life threatening procedures. Once stranded, Hertz informed me that this was “just like if I drove into the desert for a music festival and got stuck without gas.” Hertz was less than helpful in solving the issue of a 14 hour drive turning into over 36. After informing 2 agents where we had left the vehicle and asking for what we needed to do as far as next steps, Hertz failed to have the vehicle towed for at least 3 days and or close out our contract which we were told would be done indefinitely. By day 4 of unreturned phone calls from Downtown Denver and The Hertz Cooperation overall we are at a loss for next steps.Reviewed Oct 26 2023

The location was not DENVER AIRPORT but Denver center. This was very misleading!! I rent cars for years and this website was very unclear in the pick up location. Also to change it I had to pay $ 500 extra, that was double the amount of the whole week I was supposed to pay. Also the insurance was not included and they said I needed to include roadside service, that was more then $ 70 (almost more than I pay yearly at CAA+) , I was insured through CAA+ I found out later that day, but the office was already closed and there was not a direct e-mailaddress to contact the Denver location. Worst experience so far.Reviewed Oct 23 2023

First. husband wanted airport pick up. Reservation that he thought was airport was in and closed by the time fight arrived in Denver. Airport Hertz was great, but cost us $200 more! Never assign, downtown closing at 5pm ,to someone flying in requesting “airport”!Reviewed Oct 14 2023

I had a reservation for a car at 8am, but when I arrived, there was no car available for me. I had to wait for an hour and 51 minutes until I finally got my car. Only to be told that the electric vehicle I rented only had a 10% charge and it was my responsibility to drive 8 blocks to a charging station and sit for an hour and 45 minutes while it charged BEFORE I could even start my trip. By the time the car was ready, my 8am pickup was now noon when I could start my trip. I was told I could return it at 10%, but how do you do that? Try to guess how much range you have and how to balance it so I'm not paying for power I didn't use. As it turned out, I returned it at 25-30%, so that's power ($7) I paid for and couldn't use. To make it worse, I'm sure you charged the previous renter $25 recharging fee for dropping it off empty then made me pay $30 to charge the car and kept the profit. A total scam. I came off a midnight flight arriving at 7am. You inconvenienced me by not having a car available for my reservation by almost 2 hours. Made me, as your client, do your employees job and charge the vehicle to the tune of another almost 2 hours before my rental could even begin. Then after two phone calls to customer service, I'm told I have to waste more of my time writing this damn letter. You have no respect for your clients, no respect for your agents that are running frantic trying to deal with irate clients all day long because you don't have enough vehicles to honor your reservations.Reviewed Oct 13 2023
