Despite having a reservation to rent a car for a single day in Puebla, when we showed up we were told there was no car available. Then the man at the front desk said there was a car available but it would be more expensive due to local tax. We were okay with this, but he then said we needed to put down a deposit of $5000 usd, which seemed crazy for just one day. He then changed the deposit amount to $88 usd. The entire interaction felt like he was just making up numbers. It felt very sketchy so we decided to forget renting a car entirely and just traveled via bus…..

Kayak allowing third party insurance that is NOT accepted by the rental company is a total scam. GET RID OF IT. A trial bait and switch situation. Basically illegal.

I thought that the car could have been cleaner. When I lowered the stow and go seats there were crumbs and other debris, nothing large but it should have been cleaned better on the interior.

It was very spacious. My driver was very friendly and funny 🤣😁. There was a bathroom in the trunk. And I needed (of course)to pee so you know where I left a wet spot(the trunk). The drivers around us were very friendly 😸, probably cuz I put a "baby 🍼 on board" sticker on the car. And my dog 🐶 absolutely loved 😍 the drive. He was barking like crazy.

No one answers the phones at Budget. The same voice menu prompts all take you to lost and found. Upon finally getting someone to confirm that Budget staff will be at the airport despite a late arriving flight, security told us they left 15 mins before I walked in (i.e. after the flight had actually landed). Really frustrated with Budget and will not rent from them again.

Reserved a car and went to go pick it up and upon arrival we found out they had closed before actual closing hours. Talked with another person that was there at the same time and they mentioned thrifty had given out all their cars. I shouldn't have been able to reserve a car ahead of time if they're just going to give out all available vehicles.

Never got the car, after arriving nobody was in the office and after calling multiple times they didn’t have any reservation made to my name despite having the reservation and itinerary numbers. They shielded behind the excuse of making a deposit to reserve and I was never ask that until that moment, plus no cell service to call customer support to resolve the issue with KAYAK. Someone made a mistake along those lines and I never do it again.

Moved us from Thrifty to Alamo. After waiting line for 30 minutes someone tells us if we made a reservation that day or the day before they are booked and we have no reservations. Continued to say for those of you who booked two days ago or prior, you have a 2 hour wait.

Acceptable. We didnt inspect the vehicle together and sign it off before leaving from pick up which was a bit of a worry. Car interior a little worn/tired but clean. No sixt branded car hire stickers/signage? I selected wrong airport for pick up. Additional charge was a bit high in my opinion but understandable

After 30 minutes of waiting in line they refused to rent me a car because I could not prove that I live in Canada - the country where I received my drivers license. I have no Idea why I have to prove that, Ideally valid documents should be enough, but the result is disappointing: I did not get a car, the company did not receive my money.

Information on how there car service rental work. I was visiting another state the rental was for me to return with having to fly back. I was told by a rep I needed a return ticket which was confusing.

Clerk was helpful until I noticed a mistake in the booking and then she said she had no way to correct it.

Cons:

I had booked a one way car rental for La Guardia with a Drop off at Logan airport. When I called to ask if I could pick up the car a day earlier the customer service rep, said "yes" and also that I would save $25 . When I got there the clerk told me that the reservation said I was returning it to LaGuardia. I said that wasn't what I had told the clerk and she refused to honor the lower rate and if that wasn't enough she would't even give me the original price but said now I'd have to pay $80 more than my original reservation. I walked out and got another car from Thrifty. They made the mistake and they should have honored the price quoted. At least the original price, so I. don't think I will book with Enterprise again.

The shuttle from rental place to terminal took over 40 mins from return time to finally having a bus to take us to terminal. About 4 folks including myself missed out flights. The terminal is only 1 mile away. It was lunch time, I guess it was more important to have lunch than take care of the 20 folks waiting on the shuttle to terminal

I liked the agent who helped me when I returned the vehicle.

Cons:

The car was filthy when I picked it up. I asked to have it cleaned and I was told not to expect a good job. It had bird poop all over and the inside was not clean. They washed it but it was not really clean. While driving the car I noticed that it was pulling to the right and left. I checked the tires and they were completely bald. I did the penny test and have pictures to prove that they were bald. I called roadside repair and they took the case and told me to go to my nearest Avis dealer who was more than 2 plus hours from where I was. I drive back to LGA very scared and slow. I was given a 50 dollar credit. I expected to have more of a credit than that seeing that I put my life and the life of my family and friends in jeaporady. I would like a full credit and will give it 2 weeks before filing a case in NYS small claims court.

The Only thing I Liked was that I was Upgraded to an Intermediate Car, Toyota Corolla for Free, Since they didn't have any Economy or Compact Cars Accessible

Cons:

Them not make me be Processed for A Compact Car at the Original Location and it being A SUV. There was Absolutely NO CLEAR Communication on that upon Arrival. Therefore, I has to Pay an Additional Uber to go to the Secondary Location. To Later Find out Eventually that when I Returned the Car back to the Secondary Location I Picked it up at, I had to Drive back there and Find out that I had to Drive it to the Primary Location! An Absolute Waste of Time & Energy! Thus Far the Worse Experience with Avis.

Pros:

I had to call both Lynchburg and Queens National locations prior to pickup, and though my issue was not able to be resolved ahead of time, Cody in Lynchburg and Elena in Queens were extremely courteous and helpful. At the time of pickup, the counter staff was helpful and my pickup was smooth. The gate associate was personable and helpful as well.

Pros:

The staff at the National pickup in Queens gave us the wrong information about adding another person. They insisted that my travel partner was not covered on the insurance and were very dismissive and unhelpful about how we could resolve the issue. Upon going to another National car service location at Newark airport (far out of our way to our travel destination) we finally received some helpful advice from the clerk there. I was very upset that the National Car service location in queens was not more informed on the issue and helpful. It seemed like they just wanted to clock out and didn't care about nay type of customer service. I WILL NOT be renting from National again

Drop off was easy. Staff were very easy to talk to and accomodating regarding vehicle type and availability.

Cons:

The line to get to the counter before pick-up was very long, and like all car rental places, very slow. There was a bit over an hour waiting in line.

Drop off was understaffed. I was charged a late fee because it took 15 minutes for someone to get to me to review the car, and they submitted their report 10 minutes after my drop off time. This company also requires you to have full coverage, not just collision. I do not own a car and so had to pay an extra $30 a day to them for this coverage.

For whatever reason you always have to wait longer for their shuttle vs other car agencies, the lines for checkout and check-in also are longer, they nickle and dime you on insurance requirements like no other rental car agencies. The car I rented was older and had previously been wrecked and fixed with a bad paint job. Other than that it was ok.

I watched their employee walk around the car and photograph. He then came in and told me the car had no damage and the gas tank was full. I was on the highway 15 minutes and looked down to realize the tank wasn’t even half full. I was in heavy traffic with a 2 1/2 hour drive ahead of me. I had to photograph the dashboard, call the company WHILE DRIVING to let me know. They asked for contract number, which I hadn’t been given AND WAS DRIVING. it took 10 min for the employee answering the phone to let me know I didn’t have to return it full. And the photos I received from 1st employee clearly show the tank wasn’t full, but was marked full on the form. MADDENING

There are so many hidden fees, so many additional charges. Required a copy of my car insurance (not just proof of insurance but the full insurance policy). I would never rent fro this company again. The car smelled and had a cigarette burn in the seat.

Hertz canceled my appointment and moved the rental to another inconvenient location the night before the rental was due. The new hertz also lost my ezpass and the car felt old and way passed it's prime.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
