San Francisco and New York, two of our nation’s finest cities, are unique and gorgeous in their own ways. SF is known for its beautiful sweeping views, cable cars, Haight-Ashbury, the center of the tech world, and, of course, the Golden Gate Bridge. New York has Broadway, the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street (is that a good thing?), charming residents, and some awesome pizza. While these two cities may be on opposite coasts, have different characters and boast different climates, they do share one big thing in common – both cities are gay. Pretty, pretty, gay.

In line with this fact, SF Pride and NYC Pride are the largest Pride celebrations in the country, and both happen to occur on the same weekend, June 24-26. NYC’s pride features some amazing LGB-friendly acts and celebs, including performances by the cast of Broadway’s Priscilla Queen of the Desert and NYC’s march grand marshals including Dan Savage and his partner Terry Miller, founders of the It Gets Better Project. On the flip side, SF Pride boasts Oscar-winner Olympia Dukakis and LGBTQ activist Chaz Bono as its grand marshals.

Because we love SF, NYC, our LGBTQ friends and colleagues, gay pride, and (above all) a good competition, we mined our hotel query data to see which city has the most gay pride on KAYAK.com. So which city had the more desirable, gayer, prouder and more fabulous gay pride weekend?

Queue drum roll (or Kylie/Gaga/Madonna pump-up music) please…

According to KAYAK data, San Francisco wins as the most-searched Pride destination!

Comparing hotel queries for SF and NYC for the weekend of Pride to the four weekends following, NYC hotel queries were up 194% and SF hotel queries shot up 243%, making SF the ultimate winner.

So there you have it. SF is this year’s most searched for Gay Pride on KAYAK. If it were up to us, we’d be able to take a private jet (regrettably, we don’t have one) between the two Prides so we could go both ways…
