Just along for the ride.
The drive home for Thanksgiving probably isn’t always fun, but it does make it more bearable knowing that soon you’ll be eating like royalty. In a similar vein, picking up your rental car can be stressful, but it does make it more enjoyable knowing you saved money on your ride. As we look towards the upcoming holiday, here’s what you can expect if you plan to rent for Turkey Day:

  • Prices are down.
Now that’s a trend we can get on board with – according to our data, domestic rental car prices are down 13% for the Thanksgiving holiday compared to the same time last year*.
  • On average, rentals are less than $100 a day.
Rentals are about $10 cheaper a day compared to last year’s holiday – the median rate for Thanksgiving cars is $62 a day*, compared to last year’s rate of $72 a day*.
  • Thanksgiving Eve is the priciest day to rent.
Based on interest, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving had the highest amount of searches and was the most expensive day to rent. If you’re trying to save some cash, opt for a Monday car rental instead*.
  • Explore your options.
Now might be a good time to mention we’ve recently partnered with getaround to expand your rental options – be sure to explore traditional rental cars and car-sharing when searching for your Thanksgiving ride.
