Ever get the sudden urge to pack your stuff and go somewhere, anywhere? Meet KAYAK Explore: your tool for finding cheap flights when you don’t have a particular destination in mind.
With a quick search, you can see a world of possibilities - flights and destinations matched to your budget - and be inspired to plan your next adventure. Here’s how to get started.
How to find cheap flights to anywhere?
KAYAK Explore was built to help you find cheap flights to anywhere using these simple inputs.
- Where you want to fly from
- The area you want to travel to (Europe, for example) or ‘anywhere’
- Your budget
- How long you want to travel for
- When you want to go
Enter your preferences and Explore will find you a bunch of options. Once you spot somewhere you’re interested in, set a Price Alert to track prices or go ahead and book right away.

How can I find the best time to fly?
To find the best time to fly, pick flexible dates or ‘any time, any duration’ when searching in Explore. Then you can toggle travel days and compare average flight prices by month before you lock anything in.
Sometimes I just want to get away and don’t want to waste a lot of time planning. KAYAK Explore shows me everywhere I can go based on preferences like budget, length, distance, theme or all of the above. All with no effort from me.

Tips and tricks for finding great trip ideas using Explore.
Now that you know the basics, here are some tips to get the most out of Explore and find your next adventure.
Experiment with filters to find the best trip ideas.
The more specific you get about your trip, the more focused your results will be. Here are 4 ways to use filters to find the best flights.
- Direct flights only: Select ‘nonstop only’ to see your direct flight options (or routes with one stop, plus if you don’t mind layovers)
- Flights within your budget: Slide the price scale to only see flights within your price range.
- Find a destination close to home: Select the maximum length of time you’re willing to fly. Slide to 12+ if you’re craving a long-haul vacation.
- Explore by theme: Whether you’re in need of some beach time, a romantic vacay or are curious about emerging destinations, use this filter to find flights that match your mood.
Search nearby airports to find different cheap flight options.
If you’re not finding any appealing deals, try inputting the city you want to fly from instead of a specific airport.
This will search for flights from all nearby airports. Say you are in New York, for example, entering New York (NYC) will search for flights from JFK, LGA, EWR and SWF.
Compare the results with your usual airport and choose the option that better fits your budget and timing.
Get inspired using Explore’s map view.
If you are more of a visual planner, zoom in and out using the map view to see prices pinned to different locations across the US and the world. This can be a fun way to find new destinations within a country or region.
Say, for example, you want to go to France, enter France as your destination, then use the map view to see which French destinations have the best flight deals. When I searched, Paris had good flight deals, alongside lesser-known gems like Toulouse and Lyon.
