Pros (+) Away from the hustle of downtown Akumal, this serene little place was really perfect for us, traveling with two girls (ages 13 and 14). Plenty of turtle nests on the small beach, and a nice little swimming pool. Seaweed kept us off our portion of the beach (there’s a lot of it in Akumal, has been for years) but we walked down the beach 15 minutes along the beautiful Akumal Trail to the town’s sand...
Cons (-) If you want to swim in the ocean right out front, be aware of all the seaweed in Half Moon and Jade Bay in Akumal. Hotels closer to the town center had access to the sandy busy beach there. Thus the 4 stars not 5.
