Near the cable cars and shopping. Great service and Starbucks in first floor lobby.

In terms of the neighborhood, the Tenderloin is right next to Uniom Square, has an abundance of homeless people. The bathroom only has a glass sliding door and is not a separate room, and therefore has less privacy. Room could have been slightly bigger.

Okay 5.0

Great location, walking distance to shopping, restaurants, near Chinatown. Cable car is virtually around the corner!

The rooms were quite small and we had an 'upgraded room with 100 square feet added.' Overnight parking is crazy at $57 a night. The lobby layout and stairs is unappealing and unwelcoming.

Super nice and playful front desk staff. I happened to mention it was my boyfriends birthday and the concierge offered to fill the room with balloons and a free bottle of wine! And they set it up as a surprise for when we got back from dinner! The car service was excellent, the decor was really nice- Indian type theme but clean and chic! Organic coffee and tea in the room, shampoo conditioner and shower gel in dispensers instead of minis to be more Eco friendly! I couldn't have been happier with our stay.

I didn't like the price, but that's to be expected in San Francisco! The building is old so the walls seems paper thin to outside noise, but not really from room to room, so didn't mind the sound of cars and people walking.

Great Staff. Clean rooms. Quality meets price.

City view rooms were actually peak a boo views. I paid for a city view but I looked at the fire escape ladders for the apartment next door. Disappointed.

Overall good price for the quality. The hotel should have more information regarding parking and assist with finding parking or offer valet. Also if they worked an agreement with parking lots in close proximity to the property to offer hotel guests a discounted rate. Staff were great especially Thomas or Tony I believe was his name. He sang Karaoke nightly in the hotel lobby.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. It was a great location and very close to all the hot spots within the city.

The room was clean, and the staff was friendly! Also, the location of the hotel was wonderful.

The hotel provided no free parking. In fact, the only parking offered was valet for $62/night, which was outrageous.

The hotel was one of the nicer Marriotts that I have seen. I was very pleased with the stay.

The rooms were small but nice. It suited our needs and there were recent renovations.

The staff was very rude when checking out. There was miscommunication when talking about parking fees. The signs they have are misleading and she was being a "b" when talking to us. I would not go back just because of her.

The staff at check in was friendly and helpful. The valet at check in was very cheerful. The rooms were spacious and we were blessed to be able to upgrade to a double queen room rather than a single queen or king. The location and views were excellent.

Whenever we contacted the staff they were helpful. However, it always took forever to get our car from the valet and to have someone help us with our luggage at check out time. The first concierge also gave incorrect information.

Overall it was a good stay. Nice, spacious, and clean rooms. Service was less than expected given the 4 star rating (specifically with the valet service). But location was really excellent.

Great location, very friendly staff, trendy decor. Room is decent size for a big city like San Francisco.

The outdoor bar is in the courtyard, on the 5th floor, and open until 11pm. It gets very noisy after 5pm. If you have an interior room your windows are on the courtyard and it is very noisy. Good luck if you happen to go to be before 11:30.

Valet parking is $48 a night. No coffee maker in the room but there is free coffee in the lobby in the morning.

Staff was super friendly and accommodating.

We expected that a four star hotel would have evening/dinner room service available. Parking is over $50/night with taxes... A little steep. We did, however, expect to pay at least $25-35/night for parking because it is San Francisco.

We enjoyed our stay here, and would recommend to friends and family.

It had very pretty public spaces and the smell of the food from their in-house cafe was really good. I did not eat there but it always seemed full of good food. Comfortable beds, smallish shower but good water pressure.

It did not have its own garage, so to valet park your car you had to navigate a very busy street and hope that one of their two valet parking spots were open. the valets were really nice and worked very fast, but it was just a hectic place to navigate.

Staff is absolutely incompetent. Her name was Jaliette. She was talking to me and then started helping another customer not even finishing with me. Very unprofessional. I have stayed at Hiltons all over the U.S. and has never experienced this.

Great location but then that's not hard considering the size of SF

Horrible! You can hear the other rooms so no privacy. Very dark, little sunshine, horrible views, unfriendly staff (got wrong directs from valet!) Some staff not kind to animals - mine is a service animal.

I wouldn't stay in this hotel even if they paid me ... the Marriott was 10 times nicer, quieter and better service. The rooms were very small and with thin walls so you could hear EVERYTHING in the adjacent rooms and hallways. I complained to Don and he said 'that's what you get when you book thru these sites' and to top it all, a man from housekeeping came into my room unannounced while I was changing. Needless to say, after two hours I packed my bags and checked into the JW Marriott. The Westin is a waste of Money.

Location on Union Square was perfect, walking distance to the Ferry Building and sitting on the Powell trolley line were convenient. Also, the clerk, seeing we were with my son, easily switched us from room w/ 1 bed to 2 queens.

What we gained in space, I suspect we lost in view. The room was a tad dark as the window looked into narrow gap, across from which was another room. We could see into other room. Bath tub small for someone looking for relaxing soak.

The room was spare, but very roomy. High ceilings. Good TV. It was quiet and without street noise - which is surprising given location. The concierge was knowledgeable and kind.

Excellent location, with east access to restaurants, public transit, and man y popular tourist sites.

Room itself was small. Traveling solo it worked, except bathroom was tight for anyone using the toilet. As a room for 2 it would have been very, very tight.

Main lobby is quite grand, you can tell the hotel was a high end stop in it's hey day.

The location is unbeatable. You are located just a few blocks up from the BART in a great neighborhood.

The rooms were unusually small, even for a hotel in a city of this size.

It's not really a 4 star hotel. It's a great hotel, but not over the top nice. The shampoo and conditioner are in bulk bottles physically attached to the shower wall. There's no refrigerator, minibar or coffee maker. The workout room is way small.

Nice decor, right at the Ferry Terminal!

Room was smallish, but lovely.

I first chose the Vitale for the location. Ferry building for coffee in the morning, Boulevard for dinner. Once there the hotel is a destination in it's self. Excellent service/staff, comfortable rooms, great views. Spa on site, easy access to transit.

That we had to leave:

I was staying with a friend from Australia who had only been to SF once before. The Vitale was great location from which to show him the City I love. We felt both comfortable and pampered. The location is easy to get to by mass transit but also reasonable parking near by. My favorite restaurant is across the street. The Ferry building with its farmers market is a block away. Union square shopping a short walk away. The hotel it's self is decorated in a style that is contemporary and clean yet comfortable...never pretentious. Views from the roof top are breath taking from close up City views to the expanse of the Bay bridge and bay. There is attention to detail that is always evi...
