Affordable hotel close to everything. Nice breakfast free parking free wifi Clean room
I have come to expect a certain standard from Holiday Inn Express and I was not disappointed with this one. The room was spacious and clean, the bed extremely comfortable, and it's always nice to have a refridgerator and microwave available. There are restaurants and a 7-11 nearby. Will definitely be staying here again.
Did not arrive to Washington DC until 0800PM. Had a rental and by the time we got the car and got to the hotel it was 100PM. The hotel had overbooked and did not have the 2 queen beds that I had booked. They wanted a family of 4 to say in a room with one queen bed and a sofa bed. Front desk rude and did not want to help find another room...kept asking us 'sorry...we overbooked'
very good quality for the money. good access to old town
Good value, nothing special. Staff was nice. Clean, comfortable BUT very poor cell service in room. I had to walk out to the lobby to get 2 bars. Normal cheap hotel breakfast bar w/ eggs. Lots of restaurants nearby.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Good location to DC
We choose this hotel because it was a good halfway location for the trip we were taking. It was close to the interstate and easy to find. The room was gigantic! The price was excellant and included a hot breakfast in the morning, which was important to us because we didn't have to waste time looking for a restaurant. The only drawback was that the curtains in our room were sheer and didn't block any light. There was a streetlight that shone directly onto the pillows.
Do not stay here if you use a cell phone. This location has non existent reception in rooms. Need to stand in parking lot to get reception. On one occasion we waited 40 minutes for the shuttle to pick us up at the Metro stations. Typical wait is 5-10 minutes. While changing rooms due to defective AC I heard desk staff offer a walk in customer a room rate $70 less than what I was paying based on my advance reservation. When I asked for an adjustment I got a few bucks off but not down to what the walk in person got.
First I want to say that the hotel was very clean, the room was very nice, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They had a shuttle that would take you to the metro, which was very convenient and the shuttle drivers were super friendly. The reason I would not recommend this hotel was the breakfast. We chose this hotel because it was affordable, had a shuttle to the metro and had a hot/cold complimentary breakfast, which was going to help defray meal costs for us. The breakfast was a joke, all my husband and I could do was laugh. The pictures on the table showed eggs, bacon, cinnamon rolls - they had none of this. They didn't have orange juice for 2 of the 4 days nor did they have skim milk. I'm not a coffee drinker, so my choice was cranberry juice or whole milk or water. I took the water. The toaster only toasted one side of the toast. On our last day, they didn't even have jelly! It actually turned into a game for us to see how many times the woman in charge of breakfast would have to say to me 'the delivery didn't come'. ON the last day I said to her, 'wow, that happens a lot around here' and very seriously she said 'Yes'. Our first two days, the only hot items were gravy, biscuits and sausage. If that's the hotel's idea of a hot breakfast, I'm not sure what to say. All in all, for four breakfasts, I had a piece of toast twice (once without jelly, as they ran out), an apple, two mini muffins and a danish - and I'm pretty sure those bakery items came out of a big box from Costco or something like that. To top it off, when we came home, I discovered that $400 was charged to my debit card - the card I used for incidentals, which we had none of. When I called, they said 'there was an accident' and that it would be resolved in two days. No one said anything to us when we checked about 'the accident', whatever that means (the person on the phone really couldn't explain to me what it meant), but apparently I am supposed to be ok with waiting for $400 to be relea...
What else is there to say. The hotel is relatively new, and everything was very clean. The breakfast was great, and there were no additional fees added for parking or internet access. Although there was no indoor pool, we were offered the use of the pool at an adjoining hotel. Our room was near the elevator, but we never heard a sound. I have stayed in many hotels in the Alexandria area, and find this to be the best value yet!
I stayed at this hotel the night before running the Marine Corp Marathon. I wish I had checked in earlier so I could take advantage of the amenities that they offer. Room was very nice, looked clean, and the beds were comfortable (so I could get a good night's rest before running 26.2 miles). VERY close to the metro, but you would need a car or some sort of transportation to the train station as it's quite the uphill walk. Price was great for an event weekend in DC!
The hotel was new and clean. the staff helped with directions and was friendly. From this location on route 1, it is a convenient drive to old town Alexandria and other DC locations. Bike trail is nearby and metro station with parking is close.
Good value for the money. Easy to travel back and forth from D.C. (approx. 20 minute drive). Plenty of resturants in area.
