Rent a Lexus in Arlington

The lady at the counter when I went to pick up the car was super nice. What I didn’t like: my flight got in after 11pm when Avis closed, but I knew that would be a problem ahead of time so I had called and spoken with someone and they assured me that they would wait for me. However I got off my plane and no shuttles were running for Avis and I wasn’t able to get my car that night. I had to wait till almost 7am before one of the shuttles would allow me to get in and for then to take me to Avis.

I was confirmed online, got dropped off and told they had NOTHING available. I had to walk back home in the rain because I had no transportation. I was not given an alternative location or an apology. I'll NEVER go there again even if it is only about 2 miles from me.

Pros:

They ran out of cars at my pick up location, told me to go to the airport for my car, and then the airport location said they couldn’t honor my reservation so I paid twice as much.

Cons:

Being able to pick up the car where I wanted to pick it up. Being told the truth at the first location.

Rude, unhelpful, unprofessional staff. The desk was abandoned when I got there and I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing the staff by asking to be helped. That place needs a new manager and everyone working that service counter needs customer service training. Will not be using Thrifty again.

I'm still waiting for receipt. The pick up was less than desired as no one present when going to select a car and there was an issue with car during whole rental. Poor first and last impressions.

No cars available, despite the reservation. Given an electric vehicle that wasn’t fully charged, and a 30 dollar credit for a future rental. Spent hours charging the car. Returned it at 40% and was charged a $35 feel because it wasn’t charged fully. I was not informed of the fee until I got my bill by email. The car was great but the hidden costs doubled what I intended to pay.

Terrible pick up at national airport. Waited in line for 4 hours. So, Thrifty rented out way too many cars with far too few staff. There were only 2 persons at the counter and frequently one would leave - reasons unknown. Then AFTER finally getting to the counter, we had to wait ANOTHER 45 MINUTES for our vehicle to be ready. THEN, while driving on our leg from Washington to Nashville (1st day of trip to Dallas), we got a low tire pressure warning. Stopped immediately, called Thrifty, waiting on and off hold for almost 2 hours - only to be hung up on in the end. Had to fend for ourselves and by the grace of god only, reached our destination. Never rent again from Thrifty, ever.

This is the second time that I have tried to rent a car from the DC national airport location. They always try to give me an Old car especially one that I did not ask for made a car they offer have smoke smell. The people at the DC national airport. Location are not the best. Always trying to dump off their undesirable vehicles to people like myself even though I am a long-term customer.

They did not have a car for us. Did not notify us, told us we would have to wait hours to possibly get us a car, and we were not allowed to leave to get food or we would loose our place in line. They would not cancel the reservation or transfer it. We had to do that ourselves.

Pros:

I'm still fuming. At 5 pm the night before my early morning departure on a one way 600-mile road trip, Hertz in Arlington called me to say that they did not have an SUV for me to rent. No car at all, no help finding a replacement and barely an apology. Terrible, terrible service. I am still shocked.

Cons:

Hertz could have made it right. The last-minute rental I was lucky to find from Budget cost almost triple the price, but I had no options. Hertz customer service offered a weak apology and a $50 voucher for my next rental. Very, very poor effort. I expected better from Hertz. Never again!

Waited 3 1/2 hrs for a vehicle at hotel after reserving 48 hrs prior on Kayak.com. Sent me to airport location that couldn’t help because you have to have a round trip ticket. I live locally. Then the agent at the initial location calls me back saying he had a vehicle. Had to take the shuttle from airport back to the hotel. I wasted a total of 5hrs and still didn’t leave with a vehicle. I walked over to Enterprise and was in and out in 10 mins. By the way, if you are paying with a debit card Hertz runs a credit checks but they do not tell you this. This will ding your credit score. Enterprise takes a deposit for the vehicle and refunds it back.

First, it was hard to find the location of Herz. I reserved the car for 8 and arrived at 9:15. The lady at the counter said I'm late so I can not rent the car. I called Herz and reserved for 10 a.m.. She wouldn't let me rent the car, saying that they are low on cars, but she gives other people their keys. I asked her to reserve a car for me at the airport. She reserved for me the most expensive car. My initial reservation was $120. She reserved for me for $300+. At the end I rented from enterprise. Enterprise has excellent customer service.
