This was New Zealand's first microbrewery and the beer and staff were fantastic. Totally funky place to stay, right downtown and within walking distance to the wharf, museum, and many pubs and restaurants. Enjoyed our stay!
The toilet is so close to the shower you have to hold your knees up towards your chest, which was comical for my 6ft tall husband. The shower drain was completely clogged and after 2 minutes you are standing in a puddle of water.I think if the owners would spend just a little time and money to give the rooms slight upgrades this hotel would be 4 star. Entertaining history, great restaurant onsite, welcoming staff, right downtown, decently priced and the pub stays open until 4 am but you can't hear it in your room. Some people complained about no elevator but my husband and I loved it, walking up a few flights of stairs after a few drinks is good for you. Glad we had the experience of staying here.
