The location was great for a beach holiday! The Apartments are spacious and very clean. The staff are so polite and friendly, making you feel very relaxed.
great location, great food, and great staff
It is a beautiful hotel with a lovely swimming pool. The food was the standard of a 5 star hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The transport to Bodrum was very close and convenient. We had a great time in Turkey!
The shower was blocked when we arrived and did stink. The more we used the shower the better it smelled.
Staff were very friendly but not intrusive in any way - there was a really nice atmosphere and evrybody seemed really happy. I would return if staying in Gumbet again/
The pictures displayed online do not do justice to the hotel's overall appearance especially the reception and pool side area which were always properly maintained. Another positive is that outside walkway to gain access to the rooms is picturesque and fragrant because of the flowers especially the jasmine! I would say The Tropicana's saving grace was the overall cleanliness of the room and bathroom. The amount that I paid for my week's stay made this excellent value for money.
The breakfast prices seemed to fluctuate with the exchange rate! By this I mean I ordered a simple breakfast of bread, butter and fruit juice. I was charged 1.5 tl more for the cherry juice which is cheaper than the fresh orange juice. There is nothing to indicate that during my week's stay at the Tropicana my bedding was changed!. My bed seemed bearly made - just a marginal improvement on how I left it in the morning! The "beach" opposite the Tropicana could be more accurately described as dirt and gravel. I was charged 5 tl whereas further along - less than a 10 minute walk, the beach is as you would expect and you can sit on the sun loungers for free! Finally, noise was an issue for me. The Tropicana end of Gumbet had far less holiday makers than the other side of the beach where there were considerably more bars and restaurants and when returning and walking along the main Gumbet beach front the music from those bars and restaurants was never as loud as when I got to the Tropicana. Whenever I returned to the hotel after an evening out and always after 2300 or so, there was never more than a handful of people at the bar. I don't understand why the music had to be so loud. When I spoke to someone in reception about this I was told that the music doesn't end in Gumbet before 0100 and it was the Bar next door which was responsible for the noise, and that I should contact reception if the noise was too much. Our conversation made no difference to the amount of noise every night. I read a couple of reviews on Trip Advisor and this was mentioned but overall the reviews were positive so I chose Tropicana. I was also shocked to be told when I arrived that the air-conditioning would be £30 per week and if I wanted a safe that would be £15 per week. It's been a while since I travelled....... Is this now the norm?
