Close to restaurants and shops
Rooms are very small. Staff was not very friendly. Horrible check in process.
Every hotel has a bad room. I got it this time- ripped carpet, stains on the wall, broken furniture, barely warm water, no internet and a $17.00 resort fee. Luxury maybe 15 years ago now very sad.
the rooms are very old and pips were making so much noise i could not get an hour of sleep
The bed was comfortable.
The water came out brown. There was no bottled water in the room. The room was old and tired.
The rooms are HORRIBLE! The exterior and l lobby are wonderful. The room--especially for the cost--is disgusting.
Dirty, old and can hear through the wall Never again
$50 charge for Valet I didn't use. Since, I have been told by a friend that the same thing happened to them. Still waiting on the refund to be processed 3 days later.
Nice staff. The receptionist kindly upgraded our room due to a delay in the reservation process.
I was expecting a nicer interior. The lobby is newly updated & very modern however the rooms are NOT, they're pretty basic. not what I expected for the price.
The room was very old and very small. The bed was uncomfortable. The best part about this hotel is the location only.
Very slow elevators otherwise great hotel
I loved the service. Their customer service is perfection. Tyler at either the front or something not even sure, he is amazing. His customer service has built a strong referral base through myself and all of my contacts. I am actually in a room again tonight as I write this with a few other people staying in other rooms because of it.
The original room. It was filthy and had no view, along with paint falling from the ceiling. But they are renovating and it is the only hotel in Boston with the history that it has. I respect the history so wasn"t to judgemental.
Great location, friendly staff, we were upgraded and got a free wifi password. Hotel is elegant and old, tiny bit shabby but in a good way.
Located in the heart of everything...walked in and thought wow, this is beautiful!! Got to room and there was ashes in sink and hair all over bathroom....said there were no other rooms available so they sent housekeeping up to clean....staff was rude and for ONE coffee in the morning was $4 after tip....close to all the theatres and shopping areas though....
the rooms were small, old, smelly and completely outdated......staff was rude and no.....no I would not come back....
Friendly staff, fantastic location, clean rooms and very comfortable, reliable luggage storage... would stay again
Undergoing construction, restaurant and fitness facilities closed... plenty of access to similar amenities a few steps from hotel
Cheap for location, clean rooms, nice rooms,
Construction causing issues with elevators, fire alarm, etc. No included breakfast
The only thing I liked was that it was close to the theater.
I didn't like the fact that the hotel room was the size of my closet and the bathroom was no bigger than an outhouse. The shower must have been made for a person 4 feet tall. My wife is 5 feet tall and skinny and had a hard time moving around in there. The ice machine on our floor was busted so I kept having to go down stairs to refill. Overall the stay was ok since we were so close to the theater.
The room I stayed was old and no good condition. In addition, it smelled bad. It might be under construction now.
Facility was being renovated . Lobby and other amenities not available. Lots of noise, dirt and disruption. Ben there before but very disdatisfied this trip
The hotel had no lobby! The place was like a war zone.
Employees were super nice. Room is comfortable Worth money
Very small and grubby room. Person next door was smoking and the smell was as if they were in my room. construction everywhere. All around a pretty awful stay
they gave me a complimentary upgrade, most likely because they are currently under construction.
I did not know that the hotel is undergoing renovation at the moment. All but one entrance were closed, and the lobby is a construction site. The rooms would need renovation, too (stains in the carpet etc).
Very good location, right next to the Arlington t-stop so was easy to get everywhere off the T. Also was walking distance from the library and newbury street, which were nice to visit. The staff was very friendly, though, and were accommodating with being under 21 (parent just had to sign and send in a form so we could stay there)
Room was very small and they were mid-renovation. We had a double bed, which was comfy, but barely had room to walk around it. Also no mini-fridge so we could not bring home leftovers for later, not that big of a deal but would have been a nice addition. Bathroom seemed decently sized but shower was quite small (thankfully we are both small or we would have been banging our elbows against the walls). Also, water ended up getting all over the bathroom floor because it had no where to go in the shower.
There was construction on-going with no prior warning. The staff attitude was poor.
The bellman was friendly and helpful. And the maintenance man sent to my room was VERY helpful and apologetic for the hotel. Never heard from the manager or the front desk. No follow-up to check on my satisfaction.
Under construction - lobby torn up. My first room I couldn't open the wardrobe to even use it. They had to put me in a second room and it wasn't that much better. I had to be on my hands and knees to use the safe. Not a well thought out, planned room and it had just been re-done. Bathroom has only a tiny ledge to put toiletries. Not conducive for a woman. No 'safe' electrical outlets. 5 items plugged into an extension cord! Had to plug my laptop in across the room on the tv stand.
The staff was all very nice and friendly, and the hotel is in a great spot. They are mid-renovations, and hopefully it will be much better once the renovations are complete, if they increase some of the room sizes.
This was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. We stayed in a queen room, and it was smaller than the cabin on cruises I have been on. The room was so small, the TV had to be next to the bed, because there was barely enough room at the foot of the bed to walk around. The bathroom was so small, it had a bifold door and you couldn't stand at the sink or access the shower without the door being fully closed. There is a very small (4" deep maybe) glass shelf above the sink to hold toiletries, and no other flat surface in the bathroom, so that was big enough to hold toothbrushes and toothpaste, but all other things you would typically keep on the bathroom counter, needed to be kept on the floor outside the room, or on the desk across the room. Not ideal. The price was reasonable, but I have stayed here before at a similar price with a much larger room.
The staff was very nice, even the cleaning people always said hi to us. The room was cheap and you can't beat the location.
Construction started early in the morning and was loud on the fifth floor. The wallpaper was peeling up in the bathroom and there was mold underneath. They made up the beds with the sheets that were visibly dirty (not just had been slept on, but had food spilled on them.) The rooms are small. There's no desk or place to work. There was no fridge in the room.
We felt this was a great hotel, conveniently located, great deal for the money we spent. Staff was great, very friendly. Would definitely stay again
The Hotel was close to everything we wanted to see. We walked or took the "T".
My second and third night were excellent as I got a room switch. The quality of the food was also great.
First night was awful-had a standup shower the size of a small linen closet and room was dirty. Room service is super expensive and VERY small portions. Overpriced.
The location was ideal. The hotel was a block from the subway station and quite close to the Boston Commons. There were also restaurants nearby.
I was surprised that the room did not include a refrigerator. I thought this was standard with hotels of this caliber.
The hotel is well situated, clean, and very reasonably priced for a holiday shopping trip.
A bit noisy as a result of renovations that are being done. That's the price of progress.
The aforementioned header might be a slight exaggeration, as I've yet to stay at all of Boston's hotels, but nevertheless, I came away duly impressed. I suffered a significant injury halfway through my stay in Boston, and the hotel staff was extremely understanding. From a fold-up bed, to wheelchair accommodation, to flagging a cab on my behalf, the folks at the Plaza exemplified the reasons why I've quickly grown fond of Boston. As an Angeleno, I say: Cheers, Boston - the next Sam Adams lager is on me. - MK
Purely nitpicking, but I felt there could have been a bit more air circulation in the room I stayed at.
Location. Staff very personable and helpful.
My room was too small. Bathroom was so small I could barely get into it. TV placed on wrong wall. Had to turn head to watch while sitting on bed. Vanity Faucet made loud banging noise when water turned on. Thin walls. Could hear everything next room and in hallway. Iron didn't work well. Low water pressure. Elevators super slow. Couldn't set room temperature.
Roomwas very small! But great location and clean
The best aspect was the hotel location- one block from the T and the Public Garden. It was a short stroll to classy Newbury St. Our upgraded queen room was quite comfortable for our 4 day stay, but not roomy. The bathroom was tight, but functional. The shower was fine. The inside courtyard view is boring--- really just a view of 3 sides of the hotel building. Personally, we'd have preferred a noisy street view. The elevator situation was fine most of the time but occasionally we had to wait in a very long line (50 ft long one afternoon) to board a crowded elevator. This happened when a business conference let out masses of participants all at once.
