Bryce Canyon Lodge Description
Now a National Historic Landmark, the rustic, elegantly restored lodge is air-conditioned and offers a total of 114 rooms. The lobby houses a 24-hour reception. An à la carte restaurant and a general shop are also available to guests use. A launderette facility (charges apply) and parking spaces for those arriving by car round up the service offerings. Bryce Canyon Lodge is a lodge in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. It was built between 1924 and 1925 using local materials. Designed by architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood, the lodge is an example of National Park Service Rustic design. The lodge and cabins were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Bryce Canyon Lodge is operated by Xanterra Parks and Resorts, a park-management company selected and contracted by the National Park Service. A few feet from the amphitheater's rim and trailheads is this rugged stone-and-wood lodge. You have your choice of suites on the lodge's second level, motel-style rooms in separate buildings (with balconies or porches), and cozy lodgepole-pine cabins, some with cathedral ceilings and gas fireplaces. Horseback rides into the park's interior can be arranged in the lobby. Reservations are essential for dinner at the lodge restaurant.

The Canyon's striking rock pillars, formed by uneven pressures and differential erosion, glow like Chinese lanterns in the sunset.
