We needed extra handicapped assistance, clerk went and got the SUV and pulled it up front so we could load. That really helped. Fast and friendly staff. Would use again.

I am normally a very patient person as it pertains to the service industry as I have been in the service industry for a number of years. But this particular location was sub par across many spectrums. They only had 2 desk staff to handle the rentals on a Sunday. There was construction (painting) going on at the same time as people leaving and coming which caused confusion with no signage or instructions. Just yellow tape everywhere. Average wait time for each party to get a rental car was about 25 minutes, where other rental car companies can get this done in 5-10 minutes and some in less than 2 minutes via a kiosk so I don’t understand how Budget hasn’t looked at a better onboarding of customers. The major point of all this is that their Point of sale system and procedures only allows inserting the chip of a credit card. I explained to the desk salesman that the insert functionality doesn’t work you will need to tap or swipe. He said well then you are out of luck. No solution, no other option. We have a credit card but no reservation. I booked through Kayak so if we paid via kayak then what would be the difference of being able to insert chip or not. This was the cherry on top. I get procedures must be followed but when your point of sale system does have the swipe, how in the world can budget say no to that capability. We went to enterprise 5 minute walk and were in and out with a rental car in less than 10 minutes. Budget needs to reflect on their POS systems and train their employees to be solution oriented.

Other than the long lines at Fort Walton Airport, the experience was good. Budget staff was pleasant and helpful.

I’ve never rented from Budget before, and as a business traveler, I was a bit disappointed. I rented a mid to small sized SUV, and was given a Ford Bronco Sport. The vehicle had some slight wear and tear as it had almost 56,000 miles on it and it was not very clean. I did not notice the dirty dash until I drove out of the rental garage. I would think a car with that high of mileage would not still be in service but apparently they must not have any lower mileage vehicles, or they are reserved for Budget rental car regulars. This rental certainly did not win me over. Needless to say, not sure if I might rent from Budget or refer them to anyone, anytime soon. Please do better next time.

The car was not thoroughly cleaned inside. Crackers, etc. under passenger seat. Seats not thoroughly cleaned. The rental counter was seriously understaffed. One person (and one out for lunch) for 25 waiting people. Person who finally helped us stated, "everyone is always in a hurry." Repeat renters in line stated that it's always like this because the rental is less expensive. I think 25+ minutes in line is unacceptable. People just filling in their hours with no hurry involved.

The car pick up process was RIDICULOUS. I stood in line for an HOUR to get my car. They know how many reservations they have....STAFF PROPERLY!!!
