Cabo Frio is a resort town with a population of 150,000 that offers all of the benefits to the tourists: restaurants, discos, night clubs, shows and night life for all ages and tastes. It offers easy access to near by tourist centers including Arraial do Cabo, Buzios, Rio das Oysters and Rio de Janeiro (less than 2 hours away by car or bus). The bus terminal has excellent and reliable direct service to São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Juíz de Fora, Macaé, etc.
Arraial do Cabo is the Brazilian capital of scuba diving and its main attraction is the ocean. While the temperature of the water on the beach is 23-26 degrees year long, there is a cold layer just above the bottom and the use of 6mm suit when scuba diving is recommended. There are 88 wrecks in the area a great scuba diving attraction. The boat trips are unforgettable, especially the one to the Blue Grotto with stops at the Pontal do Atalaia and floating restaurant. The town itself, surrounded by hills and resembling a fishing village, has white dunes, sandbanks, lagoons, unspoiled beaches and beautiful headlands, like Pontal do Atalaia, where you can enjoy a wonderful coastal sunset. At Big beach, stretching as far as the horizon in the direction of Saquarema beach, there is drift-net and you can indulge in a late-afternoon drink and a bite to eat in one of the bars. For the more energetic travelers, there is a number of trails to explore, such as the one that leads to the old lighthouse.

Arubinha lagoon that stretches for miles like a huge warm waist-deep sandy bottom swimming pool is just 10 minute drive. Here you can learn to ride, set speed records or practice jumps with total safety!
Arraial do Cabo is considered the scuba diving capital of Brazil with diving spots for all tastes within few minutes of the shore with rich and diverse marine life: turtles, morel eels, dolphins, whales, penguins and variety of corals. While the water on the surface is always warm you will need a 6mm wetsuit for diving. There is a cold layer diving below 30' formed by the Antarctic current 3-5 feet above the bottom.
