This place was just a little below expectations for the money i paid for. Although it was the cheaper alternative from anyplace around Laguna Beach, it was a little pricey for being in the middle of nowhere. However the good part to that was it was a nice and quiet place where there wasn't much noise. meaning the hotel was pretty much empty and people simply came in at night to sleep. just like us. Jacuzzi was fail. it was dirty and not heated. The beach IS right across, but there's a train track and you can't really cross.
Photo is misleading....they need to be more transparent about the railroad tracks and fence between the hotel and beach. That being said - the quality of the room, loction, etc. was commensurate with the low price...so overall a good value if you have a car or don't mind the walk....
We had a Suite it was filthy and the door knob was gone. You had to lock with a key that did not work good .We were going to stay 3 nights.1 night was to long.Would not recommend at all.
The staff could not have been nicer. Super nice, welcoming people. Unfortunately the standard rooms are in desparate need of remodeling and a better cleaning. The room was way. way overpriced. There are plenty of better choices at more reasonable rates. The continental breakfast was simple - not many choices. Stay elsewhere.
Our experience was so different from the other reviews that I had to double-check the address to make sure we were at the same hotel. We stayed in a ''standard room'' at a rate well above the other budget hotels in the area and it was awful. Barely room to walk around the bed, threadbare bedspread, tiny towels, no chairs, stained carpet, bath badly in need of maintenance, no screen on window, no remote control for tiny TV. The pictures imply that the hotel is on the beach, but actually Pacific Coast Highway (4-lane 24-hour traffic noise) and a high-speed railroad line separate the hotel from the beach. We were tucked in a back room facing the bluff, but were awakened several times by the long and repeated train whistles. Other hotels in the area offered superior rooms for 10-25% less.
We stayed 4 nights and had a great experience. The staff was very helpful & friendly. Suite lay-out comfortable. Clean. ''Continental Breakfast'' could use more selections. Otherwise - a do over!
This hotel was so adorable... The jacuzzi is huge, hot, and has a view of the beach. The hostess greeted us by name since we were one of the only couples in the whole resort, so it was a very personable visit. The hostess was really helpful too when it came to entertainment suggestions.
We had a great experience at Capistrano Beach Resort! The location was wonderful, right across the street from the beach and great ocean views from the room. There was a kitchenette with lots of space and the rooms were very clean. Would definately stay here again!!
The people were very nice. Bedroom and living room were large. Good price. Very close to the beach. Advertized as having kitchenette however it only had a microwave and a small fridge. The web picture showed the hotel on the beach, but it was on Pacific Coast Highway, across the railroad tracks and the beach access was thru a bridge. The beach (at Dana Point) has lots of pebbles and there was a notice posted in the beach saying that the level of bacteria in the water had exceeded the normal level, we drove to another beach (Del Mar).
I truly enjoyed staying at Capistrano Beach Resort. The rooms were huge with a separate bedroom and separate living area. They even had a kitchenette which consisted of a frig, microwave and even a hot plate. It was great for the family to be able to store our food and supplies. They also had a barbecue we were able to use!
