FAQs for booking flights from Tampa to Budapest

  • What are the potential layovers on this route?

Since most airlines tend to schedule their layovers in one of their hubs, your layover pretty much depends on which airline you choose to fly with. With Lufthansa, you are likely to have at least one layover in Frankfurt while KLM will schedule your transfer in Amsterdam. With American carriers such as Delta and United Airlines, you’ll have at least one layover in the United States, with the most popular options including Atlanta and Washington, DC.

  • Which airline is suitable for a minor flying alone?

Lufthansa is a good option to choose when booking a solo ticket for your child. When you pay for its unaccompanied minors service, your child will be taken care of during the entire journey, including being escorted through the boarding process and security clearance after landing, as well as access to a children’s lounge during layovers.

  • Are there any airlines on this route with good sustainability records?

Most of the airlines serving this route have made incredible efforts toward ensuring they are running more sustainably. For example, KLM has been using part sustainable aviation fuel on some of its flights since 2011. It has also put measures in place to improve fuel efficiency on its aircraft and use smarter in-plane technology to help reduce emissions. Delta, on the other hand, has invested huge sums of money into carbon offset programs and has also cut single-use products such as cups and bottles from its cabins.

  • How can I access downtown Budapest from Budapest International Airport (BUD)?

You have two transfer options from Budapest Airport to downtown. You can either take a taxi or use the bus service. For convenience, taxis are the best option as they are usually available round the clock and will drop you at any location in the city or even the suburbs, depending on your destination. The bus service is also available 24/7, although it is less convenient as there's only one destination, Central Budapest, from which you will have to look for other options. One silver lining about the bus is the relatively low cost.

  • What is the cheapest flight from Tampa to Budapest?

In the last 5 days, the lowest price for a flight from Tampa to Budapest was $338 for a one-way ticket and $723 for a round-trip.

  • Do I need a passport to fly between Tampa and Budapest?

KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from Tampa to Budapest

  • Different airlines have different baggage allowances for economy-class passengers. For example, with Lufthansa, you get an allowance of one carry-on bag and one checked bag with an Economy Basic ticket, while Economy Light only allows the carry-on bag for free, with other checked bags incurring additional charges. United Airlines, on the other hand, has a baggage allowance of one carry-on bag for Economy Plus ticket holders, with the first checked bag incurring additional costs.
  • If you have the option of upgrading to first or business class, you should consider taking it. The benefits almost guarantee value for the money since you get an added baggage allowance, extra legroom, and even more dining options for your flight.
  • While a visa is not needed for you to be granted access to Budapest, you should know that non-European-citizen travel within the Schengen area is limited to 90 days. If by any chance you have exceeded it or are on the brink, you should visit the Hungarian Embassy for guidance.
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA) is only about 12 miles away from downtown Tampa. Taking a cab or driving via the I-125S is significantly faster than public transportation, as it takes you 15 minutes compared to public transport, which will take up the best part of an hour.
  • Business travelers should consider using Lufthansa for their flights. Not only do you get free access to its lounge during your layover, but you also get onboard Wi-Fi, charging outlets, and an amenity kit, including socks, cream, lip balm, a toothbrush, and earplugs.

Five hour delays every hour, I wish it were all at once

Got rerouted from a straight flight from Orlando to Atlanta to Knoxville to a flight from Orlando to Detroit to Knoxville! Seriously!! Flight delay out of Detroit! Long day for what should have been a pretty easy travel day!

Left /arrived on time. Decent seat space. Like the wifi/plugs and entertainment. Windows and tray table were kinda gross. Attendants didn't start snack service til 40mins before landing. Two rows before us, captain came on to say there's turbulence and recalled staff to seats. So, no drink/snack. Later, attendants didn't stop to see if we had trash nor even look our way. Felt invisible! Almost all pilot announcements were not only unintelligible, but so quiet. We had no idea what she said.

Gate agent was unhelpful for handicapped boarding. Flight attendant seemed untrained.

Clean planes and not take my comfort class seat away.

Weather caused a long delay, but the efficiency and updates from the pilot were helpful. We were able to make our connection fortunately.

Planes were clean, no water or snacks on either flight.

Aside from a completely packed plane, I really have no complaints.

Much better than Latam, the worse airline company ever. I hope I don't have the need to fly Latam ever in my life again.

The flight was operated by Latam. The aircraft had a technical issue and the flight was delayed for the next day. They grounded other passengers to get their airplane assigned to my flight. Most of he ground staff don't speak English (Orlando Airport), but were very polite. The crew on the other hand could speak English and Portuguese. On board service was good.

The flight was 45 mins late leaving, we sat without a/c for some of this, 2nd Meal was a slice of pizza. Movies were good.

As always, it’s a pleasure to travel with KLM. It is one of my favorite airlines.

As per usual when you Hit the UK it's a slow process through customs Not as efficient at Thailand for sure

The flight was delayed. The aircraft was unclean. Promised seat was not given due to change in Aircraft. Not one crew on ground was in a position to give any response. Amsterdam Airport is AVIODABLE Over crowded. Over Expensive. Poor Services.

It was really nice experience by flying this klm flight.I personally recommend everyone to please try this klm flight

It was really nice journey i personally recommend klm flight

The crew were unprofessional with a racist element. I was physically abused as well from one of the crew members

Empty seats next to me - wish it had been for a longer flight!!

Flight was on time, staff are friendly and helpful onboard.

Terrible last row seats many seats available but no offer to move to better seat

3hr delay and then missed connecting flight with another 6hr wait at the airport before getting a continuation to my trip, worst trip ever in my 50+years of flight travel

Without a doubt, my “customer service” experience with SWISS was the worst of my life. Multiple disconnections in conversations, very cold and indifferent staff, failure to follow up with promised status updates — simply put, T. H. E. W. O. R. S. T. A full week later, and I am STILL waiting to hear from them. Never again for me with SWISS. Disgraceful.

The flight and all amenities were good to excellent. SWISS was awful to deal with. Every step of the way they nickel and dime you. Chose your seats? $14. Change your seats… No accounting for the prior payment. You get billed again. 17 pound restriction on overhead luggage, nonsense. It’s a weight in the plane whether it’s in the overhead or in check baggage. They just milk you for every cent they can and I resent it. The flight was excellent.

plenty of legspace, snacks, no pull face from flight attendants when asking for a wine. Also fast transfer ability at ZRH.

The flight itself was fine, but due to a snow delay my connection to Lisbon was delayed by six hours. Despite this, Swiss Air still managed to lose my luggage. Not acceptable. Someone else on the flight also lost their luggage.

Bad experience overall. Crew did not provide food for our 2 year old (even though we specifically bought a child infant seat for her and literally bought another full price flight), which was unacceptable. And we had to pay $310 each way to carry our ski equipment even though they advertise it as something that is free. Tickets were purchased the same way as usual, but they told us we had Economy Light tickets (I never elected to have such seats). Just plain manipulation and false advertisment. Very disappointed overall about this airline.

The trip was great until my luggage was lost on transfer from United to Swiss. It took Swiss 3 days to get my luggage to me though it was located almost immediately.

Horrible!! The WiFi was not working, the food was awful

We’ve never been more uncomfortable on a flight than we have on this particular one. The seats in front of us reclined so far back that when the person reclined their seat of broccoli, it almost hit me in the face and left me with literally no room to move that said I had to recline my seed in which made the person behind me upset. It seemed like the seats also would recline without even pressing the button in the armrest and would unrecline as well for that same reason, and it also seemed that some seats reclined more than others. The bottom cushions of the seat were so thin that even after one hour of an 11 hour flight, our tailbones were so sore. It seemed like an overall old airplane. It also didn’t have individual air vents and it was extremely hot the entire flight. Several passengers were commenting on how hot it was. The breakfast was some kind of flavorless triangle, puffy egg, laying in a watery bed of steamed peppers and onions and spinach. It was not appetizing at all. The flight crew was extremely nice so that was a nice thing this flight attendant. They let us try different types of Swiss sodas, which was really nice and the dinner was actually delicious but still overall given the other considerations. It was pretty much a miserable flight without basic seat comfort.

Food used to be better and comfort was not attainable after 5 hours everything starts hurting.

We sat in our seats on the tarmac for almost 3 hours due to storms. They would not give us water or a snack. We were to depart at 7.30 pm and it was about 10.30 when we took off. No dinner until much after that. Beef type noodle dish was terrible with about a teaspoon of beef in it. The breakfast sweet waffle with egg and sausage inside was horrible. An English muffin sandwich would have been much better. Food was the worst in all of our years of traveling the world.

Our screen kept turning off ...3 times...had to get crew attention to turn it on again

They messed up my seat so I didn’t get the one I paid for

Put me on standby; flight was late; missed my connecting flight; disaster

Flight attendants were fine, seats a bit hard but I use a cushion for extra support. The only issue was it was a bit too cool and I needed to ask for and received and extra blanket. I survived!!!

Very few things and/or people are excellent. It was very good.

Extremely uncomfortable seats. Experience was like a Frontier Airlines flight. Would not fly it again.

Very, very tight legroom. They must’ve jammed in an additional few rows of seat seating. Denver to Munich was the least legroom I’ve ever had on any flight, let alone a multi hour international journey. I will not take that flight again.

In my first flight with Air Canada we sat in the plane for 4:00pm to 6:30pm. Finally we were asked to get off the plane and we were told the flight was cancelled after 7:00pm There was o clear explanation of what was the problem. I was booked without my permission on a Delta Flight at 7:30pm that was leaving at 8:00pm and I still had to go get my luggage(my final destination was Rome with one stop in Toronto. The luggage claim for Canada was closed so had to return to finally get it on the luggage belt.. Of course I missed the Delta flight and all the next day flights were booked. I also lost what I paid for my stay in Rome because I did nt cancel in time. A complete nightmare.

Good food, overall very comfy. The flight was full so obviously not optimal, but it is what it is.

Thanks to a delay of an hour of my flight to Philadelphia on American Airlines I missed my connecting flight to Amsterdam. On arrival at Philadelphia he crew on the delayed flight did not ask the passengers to let connecting passengers get off first and I arrived a few minutes after boarding was closed at the original time for the flight to AMS, this despite the fact that I had received a message from American Airlines that departure was delayed by 25 minutes. Overall very poor service, no effort from the part of American Airlines to accommodate the passenger, just rebook the flight for the next day.

It's hard to tell where to plug in electronics, and the port on my seat didn't work. Their entertainment system was down. Vegetarian food options were tasty. Friendly, helpful flight attendants.

Boarding process was chaotic. Confusion over Boarding gates: gate 55 or gate 56 ???. Unnecessary standing in long lines to board. Better to call out Boarding groups one at a time and everyone else to sit. Airline only has 2 Boarding groups 1-3 and 4-9. That causes over crowding and chaos

Lady next to me was coughing profusely the entire flight, other lady moved seats because of it, 8 hours of that during an overnight flight is a bit much.

The flight was ok. The seats are so small. The free wifi for members was not an option on this flight. The one flight attendant, older woman with straight white/grey hair, was very rude. The gentleman next to me asked about the wifi since he was a member as well. He stated, accurately, that the option to enter the idea number was not available. Her response was, "I don't know what to tell you" and walked away from him. The rest of the staff was wonderful. I asked another flight attendant about the wifi, she said the free wifi was not enabled on that flight (true or not- at least she was friendly). It was also pretty dirty. When I opened the tray table it had mushed crumbs and there was a dirty used pair of ear buds in my seat pocket. Lastly the air vent above my head was working but stuck so I was unable to move it to face me when it got warm. I fly American often but this really was not a great flight.

My luggage was lost at the airport but American Airlines contacted me and got it to me the next day.

24 hour delays aren’t even heard in 3rd world countries with archaic transportation systems. I’m never flying American Airlines again.

I liked that we got there safely. I disliked long delays, gate and ticket agents incompetence and apathy and having my luggage lost. Five days later I've yet to get anything more than a generic apology from British Air. Luggage yet to be located, much less returned.

3.5 hr delay leaving Pittsburgh, notifications for which were incomplete and untimely. Connecting flight was automatically switched to one requiring more than a 30 hour layover! After waiting in a long queue, customer service reduced layover to 11 hours and also set up an earlier standby. The standby had empty seats, but the gate agent couldn't change our tickets! On top of all that my luggage was lost and has yet to even be located, much less returned 5 (FIVE!) days later. Too bad there's no rating below poor.

Canceled flight late London to Florence. Help at airport very poor. Treated poorly. Had to sleep in the airport. Lost bags- still do not have them. Horrible. I should be reimbursed!
