It was down the street from unitedbank center. The location is on an insanely busy street where it took 10 minutes to turn onto.
The staff was very friendly and after the first room having no comforter, the second room was better.
great location; nice rooms
guests hanging out in hallwaysFor an older hotel, they have done a great job of refurbishing and the interior and exterior were very clean. The location is so convenient for attending functions on the University of Miami Campus.
Great location, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Parking was free.
Limited amenities (especially towels), was a little dated.I had read many reviews about this hotel being nasty, but it turned out to be decent. It was not a luxury stay by any means, but the room we got was relatively clean and functional. It was a little dated (some stains on the floors and walls), but not filthy. Would recommend as a cheap hotel if you just need a place to sleep for a night or two; probably not the best choice for a weekend getaway. Location is great if you're going to be in Miami or Miami Beach.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and printed out my boarding pass for my departure. The room was basic, but comfortable. The location is ideal for anyone needing to go to the University of Miami (which I did).
Ask for a room towards the back of the hotel. The front of the hotel faces South Dixie Highway and you hear cars day and night. You get what you pay for in this town. At the Gables Inn you pay a low price, and you are very conveniently located to the U. The staff was friendly and helpful. I think if I wanted more luxurious surroundings, I would expect to pay more money, but I just wanted basic accommodation to visit my son at the U.
Didn't like anything about the hotel.
Rooms were dirty, tile floor, air conditioner could only be reached by standing on something, bathroom door wouldn't close, desk chair cushion multiple rips, one wash cloth, one face cloth and two bath towels in a room with two 'queen' beds.Horrible.
The staff was amazing and super friendly. When we needed to print our cruise ship boarding passes they were beyond helpful in directing us to a kinkos. They also gave us cab numbers for our st patties day outings at the college bar great location! They let us check in many hours before check in time so we could have a longer day on south beach all and all great people great place to stay for a night before a cruise.
Hotel stuff was polite and respectful.Location of the hotel is perfect. If you want to visit popular points as the Miami downtown and beaches, you can go easily. Train station very close and you can go to downtown by it.
Room is not comfortable. Furnatures and bathroom are very old.
Cleaning staff very polite and the gentlemen at check-in too.I needed to adjust my expectations at times. It is convenient to Miami U, and near to where my friend and his family were staying (Biltmore). I was traveling by myself and didn't need to impress anyone - I just need a bed to crash...and that's all I got. Hot water had to run for 20 minutes before it became Luke warm...made for quick showers. No hair dryer in room (so be sure to bring your own. No iron or Board either. Good thing I didn't need any :-).Overall, I got a room with a bed...and had the heebie geebies until I fell asleep...and then I got a good nights sleep.
sometimes there was no hot water for showers. The place was OK for a couple of nights but was tired.
