There are so many things, but I'd say the service and people were the best!!! They couldn't be more helpful if they tried. Kind, friendly, helpful are just 3 words to describe the many people we were in contact with.
Not one thing!!!!!!!!!!!The kindness of strangers...We arrived from the east coast and was in awe of the hotel, the spaciousness of the hotel, the many areas to sit have some food/drink or just relax. We mingled with other guests, hung out with staff and just plain had a fabulous time. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know going to San Diego, in fact when I return I can't wait to revisit the many friends I've made at Hotel Del Mar.
Great public spaces. Nice staff, good room.
Bathrooms were a bit worn, could use some tlc. Had to pay for parking.
This hotel is just an average Hilton brand location, the rooms are comfortable and clean.
$18 for parking? in Del Mar? I just can't get over it. I would expect to pay this much for parking in downtown San Diego. This hotel is just an average Hilton brand location, the rooms are comfortable and clean. The biggest downside for me was getting charged $18/night for parking which is my opinion is a huge ripoff for a Del Mar area hotel.
Bed. The hotel was nicer than I expected
I had a XXX rate. The hotel charged me $18 for parking -- a 25% premium! That was nonsense. I won't be back.Good hotel except that extras are overcharged -- out of line.
The staff was great and the interior courtyard with the pool was beautiful.
The carpet in my room was stained and they sprayed too much air freshener / scent in the air.
Our room was overlooking the freeway, but luckily you could not hear the cars at all. You could however hear anyone in the hall, and any doors opening to other rooms, as if they were in our room. Very loud!
Renovation was in progress and caused some messy areas. Surprised that the upper floors could be accessed by only 2 elevators. didn't know that the hotel allowed pets. Had I known, we would ask for pet free area.
The outdoor space was by far the best part of the hotel. The lobby was beautiful as well. The hotel is crisp and modern although the location right near the highway provides some noise.
Highway noise. This hotel has beautiful decor, a spacious lobby and ample outdoor seating. There are fire pits outside that make for a great lounge area during the day and evening as well. The staff I encountered were all helpful and polite. The location near the highway is both positive and negative. Positive because it's easy to get where you are going but negative because if you have a room that faces the highway, you do hear some of the highway noise. I enjoyed that I could run to the beach which is only about a mile away. There is a Whole Foods right down the street which was an added bonus.
Proximity to what I needed
the room was not made up the first dayExcellent service - great pool
The location and pool.
Self parking for $18 is ridiculous.Nice hotel and location. Pool was very nice. Staff was nice at first when I checked in but when I called front desk about smelling cigarette smoke, I was extremely irritated. The front desk worker pretty much brushed me off and tells me the hotel is non-smoking... then it went silent. I hear her typing away and checking my profile and she whispers to herself the date I checkout. Now, why does that even matter when I checkout?? First of all, any respectable front desk employee/hotel will send security without hesitation as soon as they receive a call like this. They do NOT check the visitor's hotel profile before making a decision. As a 15 yr veteran of the fire dept, I KNOW when I smell smoke. I don't need a teenager to mock me. I told her bluntly, 'I don't care if this hotel is non-smoking, I smell smoke and send someone to check this out right now.' She hesitated and reluctant...
