Pros:Not much
Cons:I was on time to pick up my reserved car and they told me they did not have any cars available and I would have to get on the waiting list of other customers that were also waiting for a car. They told me I would have to wait 30-45 minutes, and I did wait about 30 or more. They mentioned there was nothing they could do as Dollar Rental had oversold the reservations. I find this unacceptable because I had to scramble at that time to make my business appointment on time. In addition, I barely used any gas and I did expect to be charged a nominal fee at dropoff to refill the gas based on my usage. However, when I returned my car they asked me for my receipt to prove I topped the tank. I said that I did not refill, I was then notified that I would be charged an automatic $13.00 fee. This was a surprise to me as I was not told that when I picked up my rental. The staff was polite, however . Dollar should not overbook,

Cons:Using your website to reserve a car with Dollar Rental it gave me the option to get collision insurance, which I did for the convenience of being able to simply walk away if there was any damage. But then it turns out this insurance is not really with Dollar Rental but with Alliance Global Assistance, a completely separate company that has nothing to do with Dollar Rental. So when I get to the Dollar counter to rent my car and they ask me if I want insurance I tell them I already purchased it. Then they tell me that the insurance I purchased, on your Kayak website, is not with Dollar Rental. I already have excellent car insurance with Amica which would give me exactly the same coverage as Alliance. So the whole reason for purchasing the insurance, which is to be able to simply walk away and avoid the hassle of getting my own insurance to cover a dent or accident with my Dollar Rental, is not there!!! There's no benefit at all over my own car insurance!! So I would categorize this as a deceptive practice on your part, on Kayak's part. When you offer insurance with a car rental you should make it clear that this insurance is not really with the rental company at all. This is typical deceptive money-grabbing bullshit of a large online company. Probably won't use Kayak in the future.
Pros:Got to pick the car so at least I ended up with an Altima.
Cons:Price quoted through kayak was ~260 dollars. Ended up paying upwards of 400 due to ambiguosly titled fees and taxes (when taxes were initially included in the Kayak price confirmation). Rate went from $79/day to $103/day for no confirmed reason and I could not dispute since I was in a hurry to get into town. Clerk dismissed it as "taxes" and I didn't have time to argue. Service agents in the garage were non-existent and instructions for selecting a vehicle were unclear. Booked them as last resort due to urgency of trip, but will avoid this company like the plague in the future.

Pros:Drove 2 hours to puck up car . When I arrived there was no car available. Plus had called that morning to verify that I would have a car when I arrived at 5pm to pick it and agent said because I reserved thought Kayak it happens often .but the funny thing is a talked to a Dollar agent in the morning

Cons:The staff was not helpful, the location is remote and additional charges exceeded the rental fee paid to Kayak
