I was delighted with my experiencing renting from Sicily by Car in Olbia. The desk agent was exceptionally friendly and helpful - even giving me local tips! - and gave me a vehicle upgrade to a nearly new car. I loved driving around the island in the vehicle and found it a good value for the price. The only thing that could have been improved was the ability to return the car an hour later - I had to spend my last day sitting in the airport because of the strict rules around a later dropoff. I would have been happy to pay 10-20 euros for an extra hour or two, just so I could enjoy my last day in Olbia.

Scam company. Rejected my credit card on pretense the number poorly visible even though clearly visible by all. Still were happy to go ahead with the same card if we get the upgrade and buy expensive insurance. Declined the refund and still charged my card . We with family not only wasted our time and money had to go and find the car in a different place.

Staff at the office was very professional and friendly, unlike the staff at the garage/car pick up point. I had to wait with my 5 year old child at the parking lot for half an hour for the car keys to arrive. When the guy eventually arrived with car keys he was pretty rude to us for no reason. So, that spoiled the experience.

The reservation was handled through Hertz representative at Florence, Italy airport (Dollar was closed?). I was not given any telephone contacts if I needed roadside assistance or other problems with the rental. I had an issue with a tire pressure indicator and the car manual was in Italian. It was stressful driving late evening with no contact information to interpret the seriousness of the issue. After a long delay, a YouTube video helped resolve the situation. Felt isolated in foreign land.

The car itself was in good condition.

Cons:

The line to check in was ridiculously long, the longest I have ever seen. It took 45 minutes to reach the counter. The line was as long when we returned the car. My father had a separate contract and wanted to pay cash, but couldn’t wait in such a long line. The counter outside to pick up the car was overwhelmed and we had to wait 30 minutes for one of our cars to be ready. There was no area to sit or get out of the sun.

I would strongly suggest no one return a car to Florence as their location is difficult to find, signage is absent, and it was stressful navigating our way because car rental is not right at airport. Check-in is at a mobile home-like setting.

We got to the desk and they couldn’t find our reservations even though we had our reservation number. I called your 800 number and they said there’s nothing they could do. We were at the airport rental car counters for over 4 hrs. We had to make new reservations on line and wait to get the car. The rental car counters in Florence are full of people and it takes hours to get things done.

Liked that I can get automatic. Very confusing about fuel surcharge. Said I didn’t want it for 95 euros but it was on my receipt so I didn’t fill it up. At drop off I was told that was just shown but would have not charged so I got stuck paying that and a 36 Euro additional service charge.

The only thing we liked about the car rental was the car. The service was horrible! They charge you 20 euros extra for cleaning the car even though the car you received was not washed. The car was a diesel, which is supposed to have the addativ adblue which would last you 20000kms. We had to add that which cost me another 20 euros which they would not refund. They charged 1300euros deposit which I hope they have refunded. I personally feel that kayak should remove them from your offerings. Also I hope you can refund me the additional charges that were not part of the deal!

They kept trying to charge my card at check in for things I did not know about, I refused their insurance multiple times and they kept trying to charge me for it, they told me the deposit was $102 but instead it was $1200 which i did not see until i got the receipt so I was not properly informed about what i was paying. I am still not sure what I paid because they have not provided a proper receipt and kept trying to charge me for random things.

Vehicle was brand new, price was fair, pick up and drop off were relatively uncomplicated. The drop-off garage at Bologna airport is very cramped and hard to maneuver in, but it is shared by all rental companies there, so switching companies won't help. I would rent from Locauto again.

We got to Olbia airport with printed confirmation of reservation but Locauto did not have any record of it and could not help. We had to call Cartrawler ourselves and spoke to an agent called Glenn who took no responsibility and said they had the booking at it was a problem in Olbia. Laughing he said he would refund the money and even send an email confirming the refund. This was late July peak season at 10.30 at night when all we could do was go round all the desks begging someone to let us have a car. We had two children with us who were getting more upset, tired and hungry as the nightmare continiued. We ended up with no option but paying 700e for a sub standard car we had problems with from a dreadful local company called Smeralda Express. All in all absolute nightmare

The dropoff location in Rome led us to the middle of a random parking lot on the outskirts of Rome. We put the address in Google Maps and in the GPS in the car. Wasted 3 hours trying to figure out where to take it. Very frustrating.

I was expecting to rent an Audi A3 manual convertible or equivalent, but when I arrived at the pickup, the only car available was a Fiat automatic convertible. I find it a leap to say these cars are equivalent. The trip was to tour though Tuscany mountainside. The little Fiat automatic was not up to the challenge and not what I was expecting.

Easy to rent online. Had requested car ready at quoted rate. Easy to decline insurance since Chase had that covered as part of their credit card. Easy to return. Got confirmation next day that CC hold had been lifted.

They force you to buy crazy high insurance, are not accurate in their pricing and or car selection. None of it made any sense to me or others around me. My bills was tripled by the time I left the counter!

Staff did not want to rent me a car because I did not have an "International Driver's Licence". I have rented cars in over 25 countries in 3 continents without needing that. I went across the street to Europcar and immediately rented a car with my home license.

Nothing was exceptional. Parts is the experience were d fine and other parts were terrible.

Cons:

I booked a Mercedes Benz and was given a FIAT!!! They said it was the same category but there is no universe where those two brands are on the same levels. Total scam. My flight got in two hours late so they apparently gave my car away. I looked on the website and the car I was given was a third of the price of the car I had booked. Very bad, very unimpressed.

Everything went smoothly and was exactly how I had planned it. Car was clean, modern, and the preexisting damage was well documented. I decided to change my drop off date and location mid trip, after a very short phone call to the Florence office where I picked it up Europcar was able to make the changes without incident. I waited in the queue for one hour and when I was there he refused to rent me the car because my license is not international however two companies they gave me a Rent-A-Car on my Jordanian license so it’s either early on they should mention that or he should be doing what others are doing

Unfortunately they did not make it clear that unlike other international companies you must have a PHYSICAL international driver’s license to rent the car. Additionally they have zero flexibility for arrival time despite attempting to call multiple times. Ended up not giving me a refund either after not accepting my virtual intl drivers license and physical American one

They said it was a no show so they gave the car to someone else and then tried to charge us double to get another car. And they still charged us for the one they gave away and have not refunded

Finding the pick up and drop off was a nightmare and we lost hours of time. Not clear where to catch the shuttle bus in Rome. The locations are not proper on google maps and the address provided exists near the wrong airport in Milan. We loat 1. 5 hours. Also, terrible experience with Marco in Milan, so rude. Receptionists were nice. Car was fine.

Great car in a good condition at a great price. The “office” is quite hard to find, at the back of a car park without signage directing you to it, not accurately located on Google maps and there’s no desk in the rental terminal with the other companies. The drop-off took almost an hour because they were very short staffed (one person) and their systems do not seem exactly fluent.

I’m disappointed. I thought that I was booking through you guys but then it rerouted me to qeeq.com and the car rental was rent scape. They made me give deposit of €1300 and when I got the car it was completely scratched and dented and chips in the glass as well. I realized right away that this is going to be a scam. Blame me for the scratches and then keep my deposit, so I cancelled the rental agreement and didn’t take the car. I did a review on Rentscape and it confirmed what I was worried about. 1 Star and people are saying that they charged them for fuel even though they gave it back filled up. They also blame you for making scratches and keep your deposit. Why I m frustrated is that I had to run around and fight to get my deposit and my money back for the rental.

Car was decent, a little old but not bad. They were friendly and helpful and picked me up at the airport right away when I called. They did not send me the vehicle inspection and contract like they said they would when I picked up the car however when I dropped it off the guy was very helpful and sent it then. We did the car walk through together and had no issues.

Very poor experience. The petrol was only filled 50% despite booking a full tank. The oil light came on twice and we have to return to the airport where we rented it from. The windscreen was cracked. There was no indication as to where we needed to drop the car and it took us over an hour to find the right place.
