The check-in process took forever. It was a large line and at the beginning the attendance. Chatting among each other, Delaying the process. Finally, a young man came in. And checked in as many people as the previous to attendance did together. I’ve been to this car rental before, and it brought a memory of the last time we experience the same thing. Very frustrating.

I prepaid for my car only to get to the counter and wait for just under an hour. Once assigned a car, I again waited because I was then told my car was double booked. I finally got a car, and it was a great car. However, after turning it in on time I was charged for 3 additional days because they had me down as driving a completely different car. Definitely will Pay More next time and rent from someone else.

Getting from baggage claim to Payless terminal had to stand in long lines to get on the bus. The customer service agent was very nice and friendly. We ended up getting an electric car, but never told us about what charging stations we could use being not familiar with that type of electric car and where the charging stations were a big problem wasted a lot of time during our driving experience, trying to find chargers that would work.

Payless always comes through, the pickup and dropoff process is fast and easy never any issue.. The payless cars are very updated and reliable, the price is always affordable and the deposit is always given back as soon as you drop it off, no extra charges or fees.. I highly recommend them, been using them for the past 3 yrs everytime i travel and not 1 issue..

One of the tires had low air pressure when I picked it up, feels like something they should've handled before giving me the car. Overall, good experience with the car itself.

The man at the counter was incredibly helpful and very kind. He gave me the information I needed, and was professional throughout. Would absolutely rent there again. Cars are a short walk from the rental place, and easy to get in and out of the parking structure.

My experience at Budget in Galway last week was pretty abysmal. Adrian met me out front and asked if I had a reservation, which I did. He then started off by demanding who I stayed with the previous night and where they live (really not sure why they need this information). Next he asked about insurance at which point I provided my letter from Chase (PDF on my phone) outlining my eligibility for "worldwide coverage under the Auto Rental Collision Damage waiver benefit." I had called Chase before my trip specifically to confirm that Ireland was not excluded from their coverage (given past rules) and they assured me that Ireland was included in their worldwide coverage benefit, and sent me this letter as proof. Adrian insisted that the letter must specifically state Ireland and refused to rent me the car I had reserved until I was able to provide one. The other options he provided were to go elsewhere or to get coverage through Budget and quoted me $500. At this point I would have loved to walk away but really needed the car and to get on the road. I called Chase and the woman I spoke with kindly offered to speak to Adrian but he declined, stating it would do not good without a letter. I then asked for his name but he refused to give me his last name saying he was not required to do so (was not wearing a badge or any form of identification). I then asked to speak with someone else and he called his manager, who confirmed that "worldwide coverage" is sufficient, and told him to move forward with my reservation. He proceeded to go through the steps and never once apologized for his misunderstanding of the policy. I am not one to write reviews and generally give people the benefit of the doubt- but I do feel like feedback is warranted in this case in hopes that others can avoid this experience. Adrian and Galway Budget aside, the car I rented was great and I had no issues with the drop-off at Shannon Airport. Despite this I will be avoiding Budget in the future.

Cons:

Better treatment of the customer and understanding of the policies. Wearing a name badge seems appropriate, and apologizing for the error would have also gone a long way.

Pros:

Dropoff difficult. Busy street. No instructions on how to park.. once I over came that, courteous and simple return. BUT see below.

Cons:

I was given a credit on my credit card for the tank of gas that had been reserved. Two days later and the credit has not shown up on my account.

Service was not great at galway. Car was a bit small. High price and new drop off fee. I am also being charged 119$ for no reason and it has not gone off my credit card yet. I would like a call from someone at budget to clear this charge because I refuse to pay it since we dropped it off with fue

when I RETURNED THE CAR Iwas charged two hundred euros for a scratch on the wheel well when i asked for to showme it the guy refused When I booked the car it $360 I was charged 360,00 euros I would to be refunded for these charges. Regards Chris WHELEHAN

Please make it a obvious disclaimer that you need to have written proof of a third party insurance carrier and in certain countries that comes with a VERY steep deposit. It was so unethical the what they charged and how they made it so you had to pay them an additional $400-500 for their insurance if you could not pay the deposit. They stated it was REQUIRED to have insurance before they would release the vehicle. So in addition to the rental cost I had to pay a 5000 euro deposit (5000 is not a typo) and 95ish euros for gas that would be refunded when and if I returned it full. As I walked away from the counter the agents were laughing. It felt like I was doing a back alley deal instead of dealing with a legitimate and reputable business. Shame on you for putting on such pressure for travelers to your country (Ireland). For that main reason I cannot endorse or recommend this company at the Dublin Airport location. Other then the car sinking of smoke cover with heavy perfumed products the experience was normal. The car handled well, had the latest safety features, and keyless entry. I chose a smaller vehicle for fuel economy and am glad I did. It made travel outside of Dublin much easier. It took a couple of days to adapt to the left side driving. The return location was easy to find and the agent was pleasent and was efficient in looking over the car and once I got the all is good the shuttle bus was right there. A big THANK YOU to the shuttle driver was gracious and patient and help lift the luggage in and out and thoughtful enough to lift it onto the side walk at the terminal. For me the little things count because it shows people care and take their job serious. The customer service line they said is staffed 24/7 just rang and went to a busy signal. The email that was sent to make changes to your reservation was not helpful nor contacting kayak.com email address so I ended up paying for extra days. I did save a considerable amount booking through the site so you decide. I cannot speak to how long my 5095 ish euros "refund" will take since I just returned.

SCAM! They try and trick you with insurance! Yes, they say they accept your credit card as insurance HOWEVER you need to have a personalized policy with your name on it from your card company at the time you pick up your car. If not, you have to add their insurance, which is around double what the original cost is.

CarHire charged 1.5x the rental fee just for insurance. I was unable to use third party insurance despite what the booking inferred, and it is required, which I would always carry regardless; however, it is the fact that the booking was much more expensive than I had originally thought with no proper way to compare pricing since it occurred at pick up.
