High above the Old Town and the River Neckar, facing the Heidelberg Castle lies the Hotel Die Hirschgasse in Heidelberg. It is situated on the so called Philosopher's Hill, right next to the Philosopher's Walk, a popular tourist promenade, where in past centuries it was possible to encounter many prominent people. The picturesque 530-year-old Hotel Die Hirschgasse is an ideal retreat when visiting Heidelberg and the enchanting Old Town with its unique and romantic atmosphere. Germany's oldest University, which over the years has attracted many famous visitors like Mark Twain and Count Bismarck, who even carved his name into a 250-year-old table of the hotel's Mensurstube restaurant, is also worth a visit. This elegant Heidelberg hotel features two dining options, giving you the choice between hearty German dishes or fine gastronomic French cuisine in the renowned Le Gourmet restaurant. The restaurant can also host small meetings for up to 30 participants. The beautiful Rosenterrasse terrace is at guests' disposal and wireless Internet access is complimentary in common areas. Free parking is also available, and a roundtrip airport shuttle is available on advance request (surcharge). Babysitting can be arranged for a fee.
Wonderfully spacious accomodation that quickly felt like home and not a hotel. Family run with an English born lady part of the family made conversing in english simple, but there again everybody spoke english. Great food too!
Could not fault it
The relaxing environment, the hotel setting, its close proximity to the town, the atmosphere
It was close to the main part of the city and access to parking was very good
directions to the hotel were difficult. We were told to turn, on a foot bridge to get to the hotel. When driving a car this makes it difficult
The hotel was quite lovely with a very historic atmosphere.
Comfortable room; historic location; interesting history of the Hotel
