UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP FROM END OF JANUARY 2014 The Plough Hotel, occupying a prominent site in the centre of picturesque Town Yetholm, seven miles south of Kelso (B6352), offers comfortable accommodation and a congenial atmosphere. The hotel s situation makes it the natural hub of social life in the village with a log fire, real ale and home cooking. The Plough, in common with many of the cottages in the historic centre of Town Yetholm, is officially listed and protected as a building of architectural importance. The present main building is late 18th century to early 19th century, remodelled and extended late 19th to early 20th centry. However, history suggests there is every likelihood of an earlier inn on this site long before the 18th century. One documentary source (circa 1860) describes the Plough as a nice respectable country Inn and the first house of entertainment in Town Yetholm, where there is good accommodation for travelers and suitable stabling for horses. Nowadays, car parking for guests is in front of the hotel building, off the road side. All rooms have a TV and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, all told, a relaxing environment in which to unwind before enjoying a meal in the dining room or a snack at the bar. Children are welcome at the Plough, and pets can be accommodated. Please contact us to discuss.
Lovely unspoilt village location, like stepping back in time. A warm welcome and friendly staff and 'locals'. Very rural but still within easy reach of local sites and attractions.
A peaceful and pleasant stay in a very quiet village well off the beaten track
Friendly helpful staff, Good food
Decor needs some updating
Friendly staff, and the food was good.
The room was not as described (recently refurbished)it was very tired and jaded! Only one bath towel & one hand towel had been left out...no toilet paper the mattress was lumpy and did not fit the bed. Also the bar area was very smelly, the general cleanliness of the hotel was not very good.
Bar downstairs was fairly nosiy until late.
