Great location, nice rooms
Ac unit leaked in room, no equipment rental return after hours so we could not night dive before we left
While it's not a luxury hotel, buddy dive is a great experience. I have now made the trip several times with a local dive shop here in town and you couldn't ask for a more relaxing vacation. DO NOT MAKE THIS TRIP UNLESS YOU ARE A DIVER!!! The diving is wonderful and extremely convenient. There are over 100 dive site on the island and all are amazingly beautiful. I have only done a few boat dive which are easy if you intend to go to a reef that is a little hard to access. The rooms are adequate and cleaned everyday. Personel are extremely friendly as everyone on the island. Breakfast is offered buffet style every morning. Remember there are no cows on the island so the milk is powdered. I recommend the fresh omelets they prepare for you. Lunch is usually eaten at the resort. Burgers are great and the chicken pita is very good. Most dishes have a rather ethnic flavor. The best part is dinner although the place fills up fast and that is the Lion's Den restaurant. Amazing food that's fresh. The owner whom I've met several times is from England and makes wonderful food and there wait staff is fantastic. If you eat late however prepare to wait. Wonderful vacation experience.
Food was acceptable to poor. Because most restaurants are outdoors, insects made the dining experience unpleasant. Bring bug spray. Recommend going to local grocery store to stock up for quick meals. Room has refrigerator, stove and oven. Although there were several bait traps for roaches in the room, we saw none. Bonaire has fantastic reefs and coral formations, however, marine life tended to be small. If you enjoy beach diving, Bonaire may be for you; however, if you enjoy boat diving, I recommend another location. Resort offers only 1 boat dive a day (subject to availability) and there are few outside boat operators to engage for additional boat diving. Because of unusual currents around Bonaire at the time, visibility in water for diving was okay during the day and poor at night. Wireless internet service in the room rarely worked. Because suite had only a 5 gal. hot water heater, showers were luke warm at best, but rarely were cold. There is no room service. Because tipping by other travelers was poor and therefore most expect little to no tip (we were the only people who tipped dive masters), service in most restaurants and other establishments both at the resort and in town was poor and slow. The park at the end of the island was disappointing. You can see most things of note (flamingos, wild donkeys and goats, iguanas and trees) within a few miles; however, because It is a series of one way roads, you must go through the entire park (about 1 - 1 1/2 hours). Because of the risk of break in, resort recommends that vehicles remain open at all times with no valuables left inside. Diving with all valuables was inconvenient.
