I wanted to win more money lol....
We loved the view from our room on the 30th floor (top floor). If I were to do it again though I would reccomend future guests to ask for a "woods view". The bed was extremely comfortable & the bathroom was spacious complete with a glass enclosed shower and separate toilet area. Unless you were to use your Foxwoods points Kayak was a much better deal. It was better than the quoted nightly rate (w/ AAA discount applied) that I received from the hotel itself. Also the newest addition to the casino, Tanger Outlets, has an entrance very close by. It's to the right of the small food court & you can't miss the Broadway inspired marquee sign. If you or whoever you're traveling with are shoppers then this is definitely the place to visit. Stop by the Information counter first to inquire about their coupon books for additional $ savings if that interests you.
I didn't like the additional up charges from the property $19.49 per night extra & $100 (refundable) security deposit. It felt like I was getting nickel & dimed before I even got to my room. Then come to find out the pool on property is seasonal & the only other one on property is inside the GSpa located on a lower level. So I go there with my girlfriend & there's another charge; $15 a piece for day passes to access the spa ($25 for non hotel guests). I mean what the hell DOES the resort fee cover then? The only other point (for which I removed one star) is location. Fox Tower (formerly MGM Grand) is a hike from the main gambling options & action @ Foxwoods. Although there are slots, table games, multiple dining options & a nightclub right downstairs the real heart of the casino (in my opinion) is on the other side. It's a lengthy walk or grab the free shuttle that transports guests all over the property (every 10-15 minutes from hotel lobby). Overall though, we had a great stay at the property & the likes definitely outweigh the dislikes. Just good to know all the fine print & details before you get there so I figured I'd share.
Views, comfort and amenities
I asked for a non smoking room because I have a respiratory issue. Even though the room had no ashtrays and the sign in the hall said no smoking it was obviously a smoking room recently. There were no other rooms available. At checkout I complained and they acknowledged that the floor had recently been changed to non smoking. Unfortunately, I was sick for 3 days after checking out... If it wasn't for that, our stay was wonderful.
The G spa was great.
That it is ecpensive on the weekends
I went with a group of friends for a friend's birthday. The concierge was amazing! They wrote "Happy Birthday" on the window and gave us complimentary chocolate-covered strawberries. Scorpion bar had excellent food and an awesome $7 sangria deal for Sunday night. The comedy club (right next door) also had an awesome beer deal ($20 all-you-can-drink). The entire complex was huge! There were so many different areas to explore. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable.
It was pretty expensive, especially for a Sunday night. The experience was well worth it though!
The resturants were amazing and so were the waitstaff
I didn't like the view of the tanger outlets roof especially when it was our one year wedding anniversary an asked for a nice view. Also the room was very small.
I stayed there for 2 nights, the first night was fine, the room was very nicely appointed and comfortable. However, the second night there was a group of very loud, rowdy partyers in the room next to mine who started making a ton of noise at 2 am. I waited a bit to see if Security would step up and fix it, but until I called at 2:45 no one did anything. I will give them points for a fast response, but within minutes of them leaving, the noise started again. I think they could have stayed around a bit longer to make sure it didn't start again.
The location was great I stood on the 17th floor the view wastory amazing. I literally paid next to nothing for the room which was very clean and organized. The mini fridge in the room wasn't a mini bar so you could keep your own beverages cold. Pillows we're nice usually you have those hotel Pillows that give no support to your head these were a nice change.
Upon walking in all you smell is smoke since a majority of the casinos allow smoke. I tagged it adult only because I would want to bring kids into an environment like that.
ambience hospitality comfort restaurants
parking and hotel elevators to far and far from hotel lobby
The Casino was wonderful, what one isn't! Hotel is beautiful
Our room could have been a little cleaner and larger for the price.
Everything was as it should be-
They upgraded our room for no charge to a King upon request.
Price is a little high.
