A New York style icon since the 1920s, the Paramount is a boutique hotel that is constantly reinventing itself. Stepping into the lobby is like entering a chic New York party where impeccably dressed guests sit on over sized sofas sipping cocktails and listening to the live DJ spinning from a booth above the stainless steel fireplace. Home to the refined Diamond Horseshoe, the Paramount attracts trendy clientele and is affiliated with the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA).
The Paramount's 597 guestrooms vary dramatically in size from the "Broadway Petite" for solo travelers to the "Couture Suite" which is larger than most New York City apartments. All rooms are dramatically styled and boast high-tech amenities like HD TV and iPod docks. The hotel is remarkably quiet for its location at the epicenter of New York nightlife and each room has sumptuous Egyptian cotton linens to ensure a good night's sleep after a night out on the town.
New York Style
The Paramount Hotel has an central location in Midtown West, the heart of New York's theater district. Times Square and Restaurant Row are both just half a block away and Radio City Music Hall, the Rockefeller Center, Central Park and the 5th Avenue shopping district are within a comfortable walking distance.
I liked the location on 46th street. Easy walk to shops, theatre and restaurants. I loved the lobby whether we were having our morning coffee from Corso or our late night drinks from the bar - the lobby with it's great playlist and lighting is very special. Our rooms were nice and all we needed for the amount of time we spent in them. We will be back!
DJ blasting music in dimly lit lobby
If you looking for a place close to time square and the theater district this place is a good value. Clean, convenient, good customer service. Bathrooms were not great but worked for us.
Of course it was small but that's typical for New York.
Location is great.
Tiny rooms, tiny bathroom (no tub).
Great atmosphere, clean room, comfortable bed
My room had a very small stand up shower. One staff member was rude to me but the rest were nice.
Staff was super friendly.
Rooms were small but I've never seen a big room in any hotel I've stayed at in nyc!
The plastic shower curtains The cat urine smell in the hallway and room The rooms which were only fit for a dwarf The ridiculous internet fees The nightclub for a lobby which is also overly perfumed The overpriced laundry service The obnoxiously loud AC units The location (unless you like fat tourists and idiot tradeshow attendees) The terrible products in the restroom The fact that the shower doesn't drain The lousy room service
I did not like anything about it
The rooms were not big that did not have much of anything in it it was not nice I would not pay a hundred dollars a night I paid a lot more than that I would not go to it again
Clean, nice looking, polite staff, good location, good price.
No complimentary breakfast or WiFi.
Room was clean, bathroom was clean. If you are looking for a decent hotel in Times Square, this is probably the best bet for your money. I requested to be on a higher floor so that techno music would not echo into our room, and this request was granted.
Lobby's dark lounge atmosphere with non-stop music makes the lobby a teenager's dream, and swarms of high school age kids were there at all times. So if you are a teenager, this is a good thing, not a bad thing at all. Also: small rooms really are for SLEEPING only. This would be a terrible place for a person to go on business, with the hope of doing some work in his room.
Front desk staff can be rude.
All of the housekeepers very nice, thorough, and prompt. Some of the doorman were exceptionally nice but not all. I was never once able to get through to room service. If I was supposed to leave a message in order to order something from room service I feel I should've been informed that that's how it works. I had maintenance in my room four times in the first couple of days to fix my heater before giving up and using a space heater. The last time I had them in here the maintenance man argued with me and made it seem like I was doing something wrong by calling them every shift and I am still very angry about that attitude and the heater still does not work. There was no clock But there was supposed to be one. There is no coffee in the room. There are no ice buckets in the room. There is no place to plug in a hairdryer in front of a mirror because of the location of the outlet in the bathroom, it's impossible to plug in the hairdryer and the only other mirror has no plug anywhere near it.
Please read above. I put likes and dislikes altogether When I return I will consider coming back here but I will also strongly consider other hotels in this excellent area.
The hotel has a great lobby, which compensates somewhat for the very small rooms, because you can relax there. Rooms were small but adequately appointed -- not a lot of amenities, but everything you need to sleep comfortably. When a problem arose, staff were very quick to try to help, which I appreciated.
The water pressure throughout the hotel (we tried three rooms) was very, very low, meaning it takes a long time to shower, and on higher floors, there seemed to be no hot water.
Management offered free buffet breakfast for the inconvenience caused. Room was nice and had a great view. Modern-looking hotel.
When I get there, they booked me in a queen bed room when I paid for a king bed room. I did not realize until I went to the actual room. Then I went downstairs to get re-booked to the right room and the lady at the counter said that I was wrong, and she was sure that I booked a queen room. I had to show her the confirmation paper to prove that I booked the king bed room. Anyways, I had to wait more than 2 hours to get my room again, and it would've taken longer if I did not actually go to the counter and remind the manager that I was waiting for the room. When I finally get the room, I realize that there is a big nasty white splash of some white-ish liquid that seemed to have been there for a long time. Not only that, the pillow covers and parts of the sheets were dirty with red stains. Also, I had to pay separately for wi-fi per day, as well as paying for parking when Kayak said that parking was included. In conclusion, I am never booking a room in this hotel again.
No heat in room. They fixed it once, it was broken again when I returned from dinner. Had to request extra blankets to avoid freezing.
Nice lobby area
Location, style. Room was decent. Very old New York.
The hallway reeked of weed, and since I'm not in college anymore, it was a bit unpleasant.
Perfect location to visit Manhattan-1 minute walk to Times Square and parking.
The room wasn't quite as snazzy as the websites photos-but the photos are not deceptive. By this I mean the room was much smaller than I thought, judging by pics. There is not space for a third person. However, that was not a downfall at all.
You are half a block from the heart of Times Square. Plenty of choices for dining and an easy walk to the attractions around Times Square and the theaters. The lobby of the hotel was constantly full of people hanging out so it had a decent vibe.
I'm used to NY-sized (tiny) rooms but this one was definitely on the smaller end of tiny. The W in Times Square was the only smaller room I've been in. The bathroom is barely utilitarian and water pressure was pretty much nil. Bath amenities were sparse. Coming back to my room one day, there was a bar of soap sitting in the hallway which must have been dropped by the cleaning staff. There was an interesting mirror that purported to reveal the weather on it, but it was pessimistic and always said "rain" even when it wasn't raining. It did finally change to the correct "sun" display toward the end of our stay so it wasn't broken. Its a fairly typical NY room, but for the money unless you need to be in that location there are better values in town. It was odd that we never saw a valet and ended up parking the car ourselves down the street. They seem to advertise valet service but we never saw it.
Location is excellent, friendly staff, comfortable room.
Room, location, lobby, reception, beds,
Wifi costs extra 13$ a day even if y use it in the lobby. No tea, coffee in the room. Breakfast is extra and not cheap. Bathroom very small, tub old and shower weak. Air condition is either too cold or too hot, had to change settings several time a night for balance.
