In the heart of Paris 9, the new Joyce Hotel opened in November 2009. A harmony of comfort, elegance and exceptional brightness, a pure example of Parisian hospitality. Each room is unique, the lounge under the glass roof drawers you to linger. The bright bedrooms of the Joyce Hotel are all different in terms of the colours and the furniture used, the cosiness of each expressing the hotels spirit of fun. Bedheads have been replaced by architectural constructions, bookshelves that evoke the literary spirit of the Saint Georges quarter, in a play on the style of Fornasetti. Fornasetti is seen again in the wall tiling (by Surface) of the bathrooms, in which the basins are an original design by Sopha Industrie. Jasper Conran covers wardrobe doors in cloth for Designers Guild, and Mosh-Umbra mirrors hang over desks reminiscent of dressing tables. In different rooms may be found Conran bedside tables, and chairs from Thonet (Gastenstuhl), Dharma (Lavenham, by Patricia Urquoila) or Philippe Starck (pip-e). Philippe Maidenberg has designed the majority of the furniture, the desks being one example, and even the carpet was created from a scan of Philippes Prince of Wales check trousers! Everything is beautiful and light-hearted except for the care lavished on the guests: their well-being and welcome is treated very seriously. From iPod docking stations to organic toiletries, everything is designed to take care of guests in an atmosphere full of fun.
