Car Rental

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Thrifty all have reservation counters within the airport. Rental car is often the easiest form of transportation because tourists can travel at their leisure and take detours as desired without enduring a higher fare. To drive in Mexico, one must purchase Mexican Auto Insurance from their car rental company for the time he or she will be driving in the country. It is also important to watch carefully for signs and be aware of other drivers and livestock.

Public/Ground Transfer

Currently, the airport is not served by any public bus. However, there are plans to change this and as public transportation becomes available, the new service will be listed on the airport's website. In the meantime, many tourists find it easier to walk down the street to bus stops.

Airport Shuttles

There are no shuttle services serving Aeropuerto Internacional de Puerto Vallarta.

Limousine Services

One area company offers private chauffeured vans for around 40 USD per hour. There are no limousines, but large roomy vans with air conditioning and a cooler with iced beverages is located with in the van. The owner, Tony Sanchez, is usually willing to make special arrangements as needed, but his city tours receive rave reviews.

Taxi Services

It is illegal for taxi drivers to approach passengers within the airport. The airport allows only two companies (Areomovil and Colectivo) to transport passengers. Other companies can be arrested if caught on the airport grounds. The two companies that do handle taxi service have almost 200 taxi cabs and vans available. A trip into the city costs between 100 pesos (9 USD) and 250 pesos (23 USD) depending on the size of the vehicle and number of passengers. Taxis are found outside of the side entrance on the main floor.
