On the 24th of May 1927 a spectacular inauguration ceremony was arranged to officially open this masterpiece at which the local authorities and many important international personalities were present. The casino officially opened its doors in 1929. Rhodes had acquired one of its most historic and symbolic structures - being the allegro of the unique architectural symphony- which is characteristic of the emerald island. The Grande Albergo delle Rose was christened the Dream of the East - as it became the top attraction of the international jet set of the time. Eleftherios Venizelos - Aristotle Onassis- Konstantinos Karamanlis - Georgios Papandreou ? Tito - Winston Churchill and Moshe Dayan are but a few of the great names to have graced the halls of the hotel with their presence. The service renaissance had begun. A Legend Reborn 75 years later the revival took place. In May 2002 the gates of the Grande Albergo delle Rose reopened- fully renovated by famous Italian architects and designers- retaining all of its grandeur and splendor- ready to write its own history and to create its own era.
