The Blaue Gans, whose tradition dates back 660 years, is the oldest inn in the city of salzburg. It boasts a prime location opposite the festival hall and in the heart of the historic centre, which has been declared a world cultural heritage site, and is only a short walk from mozart's birthplace.
We have carefully combined the historic walls of this inn, which is steeped in tradition, with a modern design and contemporary art.
The result is a place that exudes a natural feel, a venue for people who like to pursue their own way. we are pleased to accompany you along a part of this way.
Its position. It's near the old town and you can have everything in your sight in about 5 minutes.
my room (wasn't in a good spot - 1st floor) and the smell from the kitchen in the hall. The breakfast was just good but according to the room rates it should be more qualitative and rich.
Extremely helpful staff
Noise-spill from other rooms. Below average bathroom. Price when compared with other similar hotels in W. Europe.
The hotel was very central and had a lot of ambiance.
The bar area allowed smoking which was a bit of a shock now that Britain is smoke-free!
The receptionist"Dietmar" is very nice and helpful. The location is in the heart of Salzburg, wouldnt be better than this.
Restaurant staff particularly friendly and helpful. Food (breakfast and dinner) very good and very good value. Eat outside if you can.
Reception staff a bit 'stressed' [need more staff on duty at busy times]. Although our room had aircon, it didn't function fully [cool air, not cold air]. We also overheard other guests commenting on the same problem. The staff 'pretended' they didn't know of this problem. They urgently need to upgrade the aircon...for a town centre location [with the noise you would expect] you need to have the windows shut at bed time, without melting!
