You're getting what you pay for. The owner, and potentially only staff member is why this place gets a two. He is an old school Italian born and raised in the house of hard knocks of New England. Really talkative and down to earth, but if you do him wrong, he will rip you a new one. I don't know if I obtained a steal, but I paid $50 for a private room on the Monday following the city's pride parade.
This isn't the fault of the establishment, but the location is not good. It's located near the BART station in the Tenderloin district. If you're not familiar with the city, this is ground zero for the bay area's homeless. No HVAC in the room, which can be a big issue if it's a really cold or hot day. The facilities were the bare minimums. The overall cleanliness definitely could've been better.
