Pros:

Car was a great car for driving around california. Quite zippy and very easy to parallel park. When picking up car, I felt it was a bit dirty outside and inside. Looked like Car had been vacuumed but windows, dashboard and and steering wheel were dirty. A simple detail would solve the problem so the next client can be assured a clean driving rental vehicle. I would rent again from both Enterprise and Kayak website.

I tried 4 different cars because each car had an issue. Two cars reeked of smoke, one had a smashed in back fender, and the last had sand and trash all over the floor board including 11 used water and soda bottles strewn around the interior of the car. The Avis agents were accommodating in switching cars but it was a terrible experience having to walk back and forth to the counter and car each time. It took over an hour to finally get into a car. They also didn’t escalate to a manager until I asked for one when we pulled the car up to show them all of the trash. The manager was very friendly and helpful. He apologized for the trouble. The return was challenging as well. The signage was poorly done. I parked in one of the designated return spots and followed signs up 8 flights of stairs to the rooftop to find that I had been misdirected. I walked back downstairs and ultimately found the return desk on the ground floor. The agent asked me where I parked and told me I had to move the car the rooftop. I told her the signs directed me to park in the designated spots side the garage which were clearly marked as Avis return spots but she insisted I move and that the car was now late. She said the signs were wrong and need to be removed. When I expressed displeasure with the poor signage and waste of time the agent told me I could call customer service. I had to go back upstairs and drive the car all the way to the top of the garage. The process was inefficient and frustrating.

Your call center is horrible. The car had a low air tire warning when we started the car. We filled up with air and it kept losing air. When we tried to get assistance by calling the 1-800 number on the paperwork, all we got was a run around and no one seemed to know the answer. They asked me to call back the next day when the rental car location was open. When I called, they advised me to call the number of the actual location. When I called that number I got the call center AGAIN. I finally brought the vehicle back and they stated they were cleaning a car for me to take. After sitting for almost an hour and checking with them several times, the person who was cleaning the vehicle had left for the day. Nothing like spending your valuable vacation time sitting in a rental car place. I am thoroughly disappointed and will not be using Avis/Budget again.

The first car to which I was assigned smelled terribly of cigarette smoke. I had to go back to the counter and wait in line behind several other customers to ask to be assigned to another vehicle. The representative, while not very pleasant and certainly not apologetic, did give me another vehicle, which was not very clean. The vehicle (Ford Escape) performed fine and then the drop-off on return was quick and easy.

The amount stated for booking was tripled at pickup, so Kayak never actually gave me a deal on my rental. I will NEVER recommend Kayak for deals, you guys don't make deals on price only book the vehicle.

We waited 2 hours for our car to be “ready” and they still have it to us dirty. The car was really old.

I liked that I was able to get the vehicle fairly quick. I didn’t like the first vehicle I was offered had a huge dent across the side of the vehicle. It was smashed in, in my opinion, shouldn’t be able to be rented.

Car was incredibly basic without even Bluetooth connectivity. However, the price I paid was very low too and the car, although basic, was of a very good standard. Helpful staff and quick service. Car spotlessly clean.

Several hidden fees. Hertz also intentionally marks the pickup fuel level at full when it's not to try and recover the fueling fee from you.

This was the worst rental car experience of my life. I would like a refund. I had an 11 AM pick up scheduled. It was 2 PM and my car was still not ready with no timeframe of how much longer I would have to wait finally I had to call an Uber to go back to the airport to go get a car with thrifty, the workers were as nice as can be expected but they said they had no cars. I offered to take any car that they had even though I had rented an SUV. I said it did not have to have gas Norby washed, but they said they still cannot accommodate I have probably rented 50 to 100 cars in my life including quite a few post Covid. and this was by far the experience

It reeked with the smell of marijuana when I picked it up. That lasted all day with the windows open. Even for a few days.
