The magnificent neoclassical facade of the Des Étrangers Hotel & Spa dominates the harbour of Siracusa in Sicily, from its position on the island of Ortigia. This five-star historical hotel has the elegance and style typical of the grand European hotels and features refined balconies overlooking the sea. Step in style into the grand entrance hall and admire the precious marble floors, the stucco works and gold decor of the walls and high ceilings. This luxury hotel offers world class services in a unique environment.
Excellent location and quiet - the first hotel in Sicily to achieve this. Plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants nearby. Bit of a trek to breakfast from our room but well worth it - both for the buffet and the outstanding views while enjoying it.
Excellent 5 star hotel - one of the best hotels of our Sicily trip. Junior suites are spacious and finished to a very high standard. Cleaning comes twice a day and small details/gestures (fresh cakes and fruits in the room, ...) make this hotel a true gem. Breakfast is very good with something for everyone (not just the sweets that make up a local breakfast) and it is served on a gorgeous rooftop resaturant/terrace. As a city, Siracusa is very pleasant and worth a long stay. I found it more interesting and less crowded than Taormina and also more affordable.
