South of Hurghada, far enough from the crowded tourist towns, you'll find the breathtaking Sheraton Soma Bay Resort. Imagine blue skies, white sandy beaches, and turquoise water lapping at your feet. Add miles of serene, unspoiled desert and a backdrop of the Red Sea Mountains. Here, it's a reality. We are situated on 800 meters of natural sand beach and famous for our spectacular temperature controlled swimming pool. Our dramatic architecture is inspired by Luxor's magnificent Karnak Temple, where the splendors of ancient Egypt blend with the comforts of today's amenities. Here is the idyllic spot to enjoy peace and tranquility, achieve renewed harmony of mind, body, and spirit with the restorative powers of thalassic services at the nearby Les Thermes Marins Des Cascades. Play a round of golf on the 18-hole championship course designed by Gary Player. Or head to the spectacular diving spots, just a few minutes from the shore. Put all that together with the high standards of Sheraton hospitality and you have a dream worth exploring. We at the Sheraton Soma Bay Resort are committed to providing you with an unforgettable experience in an exclusive place.
On the plus side the weather was great, the house reef was wonderful but took 20 minutes to reach on foot - so the free hour of mask and snorkel rental was used up getting to and from the reef.
The reception staff were (in general) unwilling to resolve problems and became slightly aggressive when I complained. We ordered a double bed with a full sea view, this was not available - we accepted a room with twin beds that we were told would be made in to one bed ("and we would hardly know the difference"), after four requests the beds were not made as one, as promised they were just pushed together. The air conditioning didn't work I made several requests to have it looked at - to my knowledge nobody looked at it, the problem was not resolved.
The restaurant staff....they were the most cheerful and accomodating. Hotel reception forgot the matra "customer is always right"! Beach was very nice.
This is a very all inclusive resort which is very bad value when traveling as a independant traveler. I would skip Hurgada and go directly to Dahib next time.
