The hotel was a Historic Building, and the rooms and decor made the place interesting.
I did not like that the hotel did not have a hot tub or exercise room.\The Montvale Hotel is a historic hotel across from the Fox Theater in Spokane. The decor is interesting. The hotel has 36 rooms, The rooms are large and spacious. I felt that the hotel was a good value vs the amount paid online.
I have never left a negative review. I'm pretty easy to accommodate hence I don't mind using priceline bidding to be surprised. After this experience I'm done with that. The quality and condition of the entire hotel and area of town was frightening.
The hotel looked like it had been vacant for years. It looked like it was a haunted house with the filth and dust. Loud crashes throughout the night, noises from the old building to the neighborhood. Overall scary experience, hardly slept. It also smelledAwful. The waiter in the restaurant next door couldn't believe I was staying there and ended up buying my dinner stating 'it's on me tonight, just be safe over there.'
Nice receptionist and quaint lobby
Poor room lighting, no parking, lumpy soft bed, cold coffee, tiny TV,one tiny washcloth, one hand towel, dirty carpet in stairwayOne and a half stars not three and a half
It looked nice
This was the noisiest hotel we have ever stayed in. Slept very bad. Would never stay there again.
Location and Historic Value!
A/C did not work. Noise was extreme! We love the old stuff so a historic downtown hotel actually excited us. Walking in the hotel did not disappoint...just like we expected it & our room was spacious, high ceilings, well-appointed, & clean. Obviously the entire hotel had gone through a renovation. We felt it was absolutely beautiful...antiques (or fake antiques) & old (or old-looking) furniture everywhere. Perfect! Unfortunately, that's where it all stopped. The room was warm & the thermostat would not go below 70 degrees. We noticed the window was slightly open when we entered so we raised it higher since it was below 40 outside, we were sure we could get it to a comfortable level. We left to have dinner & a few drinks but found the room still warm upon our return. The downtown noise was incredible & we knew we could not get any sleep with the window open so we tried to close it. Window almost fell out of the buildi...
worst. hotel ever
everythingnasty ghetto bad location
Charm of an older restored hotel. A piece of history.
Hotel is in bankruptcy, and as a result amenities were almost nonexistent. Unprofessional desk staff. No restaurants on site, even though hotel claims otherwise in its hotel directory. Windows did not keep out the sound of the streets below and trains.
I liked the unique character of this historic old hotel and the way the open spaces and the room were furnished. I was also amazed by the spaciousness of our room.
I don't like the fact that the only alternative to the valet parking is parking on the street. It is too bad they do not have their own free parking. The Montvale offers very pleasant accommodations . The room was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed. There is quite a bit of road and train noise but we slept well using our ear plugs. The valet parking was expensive and if more than one person is checking out, it takes a long time to get your car.
Charming old hotel. Comfortable bed.
Extremely noisy from traffic and trains!!!! Street parking. No coffee shop etc.Charming old hotel. However the noise levels from the street and passing trains was overwhelming. Walls needed painting to cover up all the repair jobs. Having to park on the street was a pain-had to go feed the meter as soon as I woke up! Attentive staff. No coffee shop or breakfast bar. This would be a good hotel for someone wanting to stay in a funky older place on the edge of downtown Spokane and wanting a semi-urban type experience. However for someone on business travel this was not a good place. This was NOT a 3.5 star hotel as listed on your site!! I use priceline a lot for staying in Spokane, and now I am worried about doing so again because I don't want to stay in the Montvale again. All my other priceline experiences have been good but not this one.
The staff was helpful and friendly
This hotel is located in a less than desirable part of town. The carpet looked dirty and the mattress had us both falling into the center all night. Very bad! The bed was made with no top sheet under the duvet. We were told this was their practice. Gross!I have stayed at many hotels in Spokane. This is not a 3.5 star hotel but rather a 2 star hotel. I understand being historic may give it extra points but to rate it higher than the Marriott is misleading. This is the first time I have been disappointed with Priceline.
