The billing was absolutely absurd - Kayak offered me a rate of less than $50/day. Budget then added all these hidden fees — like a 130€ “location” fee for renting the vehicle for the airport. The final bill was more than 2x what Kayak had offered me.

It took 2hrs for me to get my rental keys when I landed. I had to wait 1.5hrs just to get checked in and then another 30mins just to pick up the keys after being checked in. Absolutely ridiculous.

The way to pick up my rental, took about an hour and 45 minutes to get to the point where I was able to leave with the car When I returned the car to the address listed in San Jose, there were not clear instructions for returning the budget rental car

I was charged more than twice the amount of my reservation. I was directed to twi non-existent pickup locations. There was no car available until the day after my pickup date. I was given a smaller vehicle. The vehicle I was given had a non functioning passenger window and USB ports as well.

Office seemed disorganized and unprofessional. There were two other customers ahead of me and I waited nearly 20 minutes to be waited on while the agents chatted with customers. Drop off was very smooth, but pick up was agonizingly tedious.. Also, I was not aware of that. I had to go offsite out of the airport to pick up the car. I had been a Budget customer previously, and intend to go back to Budget next time.

I did not receive the vehicle that I reserved. They told me that had to give me an upgraded vehicle and that I had to pay extra $175 for the vehicle because they gave my smaller car to someone else.

The car had a strong vibration throughout the drive tha.There was clearly a lack of cleaning.. there is a sticky substance around the gearshift. I use the supplied cleaning, wipe wipe to clean .

Pros:

Pickup and dropoff were a breeze

Cons:

Car was filthy, but I rented at the last minute so maybe there was no time to clean? Windows had paint pen on them, windshield had tape on it like it had just been replaced, interior hadn't been cleaned and there might have been mustard on the steering wheel!
