Account.

Create a KAYAK account and access member only discounts and easy booking with saved details by inputting your email on the login page. We’ll guide you from there.

Create an account from Trips

You can also easily create a KAYAK account through our Trips feature. All you need to do is forward your booking confirmation email to trips@kayak.com. Here’s how it works:

  • Forward any booking confirmation email (flights, hotels, car rentals) from your email address to trips@kayak.com
  • KAYAK will automatically create a travel itinerary for you
  • If you don't already have a KAYAK account associated with that email address, we'll create one for you and send a verification email
  • Open the verification email and click "confirm" to finalize your account setup

That’s it. Your account is ready to use.

Signing in to your account.

We’ve replaced passwords with verification codes for easier access. When you sign in, we’ll generate a verification code and send it to you.

You can also set up a passkey for secure sign-in. Visit your Account page to add one.

To delete your KAYAK account, log in to your account. Scroll to the bottom of the page where you’ll find the “Delete Account” option.

Before you delete.

If you’re looking to delete your account to stop receiving emails, you have another option. Head to your Notifications page to modify your email subscriptions instead.

About automatic account creation.

Keep in mind that if you’ve forwarded booking confirmations to trips@kayak.com, KAYAK may have automatically created an account for you. If you didn’t manually create an account but are receiving emails from us, this is likely why.

Access your account.

KAYAK uses verification codes instead of passwords. When you log in, you’ll receive a code to access your account. You can also set up a passkey for faster access by visiting your Account page.

  • Open the verification email and click "confirm" to finalize your account setup

That’s it. Your account is ready to use.

To change your email address in your KAYAK account, head to your Account page and update your personal information there.

Steps to update your email.

  • Log into KAYAK and open your Account page
  • Edit your email address under the 'Account' section

You can change any other account details from this same page.

If you forward trips to KAYAK.

Keep in mind that if you forward booking confirmations to trips@kayak.com, the email address you send from needs to match the email on your KAYAK account. If they don’t match, your forwarded trips won’t show up in your account.

If you don’t have a KAYAK account yet and forward a trip, we’ll automatically create one using that email address and send you a confirmation link to activate it.

For KAYAK AI accounts.

If you’re using KAYAK AI, visit your KAYAK AI Account page to change your email address or other personal information there.

KAYAK no longer uses passwords. We’ve replaced them with verification codes that are generated each time you log in.

When you go to sign in to your KAYAK acount, you’ll receive a verification code to access your account. No password reset needed.

You can stop receiving KAYAK newsletters and marketing emails in two ways:

Use the unsubscribe link in any KAYAK marketing email.

  • Click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any KAYAK promotional email to opt out of future emails.

Manage your email preferences in your KAYAK account.

What happens after I unsubscribe?

You’ll stop receiving marketing emails, but you’ll still get service-related messages like booking confirmations and trip updates. These transactional emails are necessary for your travel arrangements.

Other notification options.

If you’re also receiving other types of messages from KAYAK:

  • Push notifications: Use your mobile device settings to turn KAYAK push notifications on or off
  • Text messages: Reply STOP to any KAYAK text message, or adjust text preferences in your account settings
  • Third-party marketing: You can opt out of KAYAK sharing your information with travel partners and other companies for their marketing purposes by changing your account preferences or contacting us through the methods listed in our Privacy Policy

How you sign out of your account will depend on whether you’re using desktop or the KAYAK App.

  • Click your account name on the top right-hand corner
  • Click 'Sign out'

  • Open the KAYAK app
  • Click open the 'Profile' section
  • Scroll to the bottom and choose 'Sign out'

KAYAK Trips.

KAYAK Trips is our free tool for organizing all your travel plans and keeping your itineraries accessible from anywhere. It centralizes your bookings, confirmations, and travel ideas in one place so you can access them from your desktop or the KAYAK app when you’re on the move.

How KAYAK Trips works.

Access your Trips:

  • On desktop: Click "Trips" at the top right of any KAYAK page
  • On mobile: Open the KAYAK app and select "Trips" from the home screen

Build your itinerary:

  • Forward booking confirmations from any travel site to trips@kayak.com to automatically create an itinerary
  • Connect your Gmail account to automatically sync confirmation emails
  • Manually add activities and other trip details
  • Save flight and hotel searches to track price changes

Stay updated:

  • Receive notifications about flight and gate changes
  • Enable SMS flight status alerts by adding your mobile number in Trips Settings (mobile app only)
  • Use Flight Tracker in the app for live flight updates

Share your plans:

  • Share your complete itinerary with friends and family directly from Trips

Setting up KAYAK Trips.

If you don’t have a KAYAK account, forwarding a confirmation email to trips@kayak.com will automatically create one. You’ll receive a verification email – click “confirm” to activate your account and access your trip.

For automatic syncing, connect your Gmail account in Trips settings. KAYAK will pull in your travel confirmations and build itineraries for you.

Why use KAYAK Trips for travel planning.

KAYAK Trips keeps everything organized without switching between apps or digging through email. You get price tracking on saved searches, real-time flight alerts, and the ability to manually add activities to create a complete trip plan. It’s completely free and works across all your devices.

To merge two Trips in KAYAK, you’ll need to sign in first. Here’s how to do it:

  • Go to your Trips page
  • Select the Trip you want to merge
  • Open the "More" drop-down menu
  • Choose "Merge into another trip"

Moving individual Trip events.

If you only need to move specific items from one Trip to another rather than merging everything:

  • Open the Trip that contains the event you want to move
  • Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the event
  • Select the option to move the event to a new or existing Trip

This gives you more control if you don’t want to combine entire Trips together.

You can book any search result you’ve saved to Trips directly from your Trips page. Here’s how to do it:

  • Go to your Trips page (the heart icon within the side navigation on KAYAK, or tap "Trips" on the home screen of the mobile app)
  • Select the saved option you want to book
  • Review the current price (we refresh your saved searches in the background so you'll see up-to-date pricing)
  • Click the "Book" button to proceed with your booking, either by clicking out to the airline's or online travel agency's booking page, or by selecting the "KAYAK" booking option that lets you complete the booking with a third party whilst remaining on KAYAK's site

Keep in mind that KAYAK automatically updates the pricing on your saved searches, even if you saved them a while ago. This means you’ll always see the most recent price before you book.

If you only need to move specific items from one Trip to another rather than merging everything:

  • Open the Trip that contains the event you want to move
  • Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the event
  • Select the option to move the event to a new or existing Trip

This gives you more control if you don’t want to combine entire Trips together.

KAYAK Trips sends you notifications about flight status changes, gate updates, and check-in reminders to keep your travel organized. Flight status alert emails are enabled by default and sent to your KAYAK account email address.

Turn notifications on/off for a trip.

  • Open the trip you want to manage from your Trips list
  • Go to the trip's details page
  • Look for the alarm icon to check if alerts are currently enabled (icon "on") or disabled
  • Use the alert controls on the details page to toggle notifications on or off for that specific trip

Add SMS flight alerts (optional).

To receive text message alerts in addition to email:

  • Open the KAYAK mobile app
  • Go to Trips Settings
  • Add your mobile phone number to enable SMS flight status alerts

Please keep in mind that flight status alerts are managed individually for each trip from the trip’s details page.

Examples of the notifications you’ll receive.

  • 24-hour check-in reminder
  • 3-hour on-time departure reminder
  • Flight delays and cancellations
  • Gate and terminal changes
  • Connection information
  • On-time arrival updates
  • Baggage claim information

Yes. You can direct a forwarded booking receipt to a specific existing Trip by using the Trip’s name as the email subject line.

How to specify the Trip.

  • Forward your booking receipt to trips@kayak.com from your email account
  • Set the email's subject line to match your existing Trip name exactly
  • KAYAK will add the travel information to that specific Trip

If you don’t have a KAYAK account for the email address you’re forwarding from, KAYAK will create one automatically and send you a confirmation email. Click the confirmation link to complete the setup.

Keep in mind that receipts must be forwarded by you from your email account. Direct emails from travel providers to KAYAK are not supported.

To sync your email inbox to Trips, log in to your KAYAK account and navigate to the Trips section. There, you’ll find an option to sync your Google or Outlook email. Follow the prompts to grant access to your inbox.

What happens when I sync my inbox to KAYAK Trips?

Once connected, KAYAK will automatically import and organize your travel confirmations, making it easy to manage your itineraries all in one place.

To add booking receipts to Trips simply forward them to trips@kayak.com.

When you do this, KAYAK will automatically create a travel itinerary in your Trips. If you don’t already have a KAYAK account for the email address you’re forwarding from, we’ll create one and send you a verification email. Just click “confirm” in that email to complete the setup.

Please keep in mind that you need to forward the receipt yourself from your own email account. Trips doesn’t support booking receipts sent directly from travel providers.

Can I forward from multiple email addresses?

Yes, you can forward booking receipts from more than one email address. Here’s how to set it up:

  • Go to Trips Settings
  • Find the section titled "Booking receipts"
  • Add any email address you want to use as a sender
  • The owner of each added email must confirm that their forwarded receipts should be added to your Trips instead of their own

My receipt isn’t showing up. What should I do?

First, log out of KAYAK and log back in. If the receipt still isn’t visible, check if you forwarded it from a different email address than the one you use to log in to KAYAK.

To fix this:

  • Forward the receipt from the same email you use to log in to KAYAK, or
  • Add the other sending email in Trips Settings under "Booking receipts" and have its owner confirm

Also make sure the receipt was forwarded by you and not sent directly by a provider.

Choose which trip to add a receipt to.

To place a receipt into a specific existing trip, use that trip’s name as the email subject line when forwarding to trips@kayak.com.

KAYAK Trips handles just about any email format when you forward travel booking confirmations and receipts from your inbox. This includes plain text emails, HTML emails, and emails with attachments.

Your Trips are private by default and can only be seen by you. Here’s how to share them with friends, family, or travel companions.

To share one specific Trip.

  • Open the Trip you want to share
  • Click "share this Trip" (or "Share") near the top of the page
  • Enter the person's email address
  • Choose their access level:
  • View access: They can see the trip but not make changes
  • Edit access: Tick "May edit this trip" so they can collaborate on planning
  • Send the invite

Automatically share all new Trips.

To share every new trip you create with specific people:

  • Go to your Trips Settings page
  • Find the section labeled "Share new Trips with..." (or "Automatically share new trips with...")
  • Enter the person's email address
  • Choose whether to grant view or edit access

All future trips will automatically be shared with them.

What people will see when you share.

  • If you share a link: Anyone with the link can view the trip, but sensitive information (booking details, payment info, traveler names, and email addresses) won't be visible to them.
  • If you add them as a collaborator: To give someone access to full booking details, add them via the Share link and tick "May edit this trip." Only people with a KAYAK account can view complete booking information for security reasons.

Your trips are never searchable or visible to search engines.

You can sync your KAYAK Trips to your calendar by subscribing to a calendar feed. This keeps your travel plans automatically updated across your devices.

Get your calendar feed link.

  • Go to your Account page
  • Scroll down and copy the Trips calendar feed

Add to Google Calendar.

  • Open Google Calendar in a new browser tab
  • Click the down arrow next to "Other calendars" on the left side
  • Select "Add by URL"
  • Paste your calendar feed link into the box
  • Click "Add calendar"
  • Click the calendar you just added to display it

Add to Apple iCal (Mac).

  • Open Apple iCal
  • Select "Subscribe" from the "Calendar" menu
  • Paste your calendar feed link into the "Calendar URL" box
  • Click "Subscribe"
  • Adjust any settings in the dialog box that appears
  • Your calendar will appear under "Subscriptions" in the left navigation

Add to Apple iPhone.

  • Copy your calendar feed link from the Trips Settings page
  • Paste the link into an email and send it to your iPhone
  • Open the email on your iPhone and tap the link
  • Tap "Subscribe" on the dialog
  • Tap "View Events" to view your trip calendar, or tap "Done"

Add to Microsoft Outlook 2007.

  • Open MS Outlook 2007
  • Click "Tools" and select "Account Settings"
  • Click the "Internet Calendars" tab
  • Click "New"
  • Paste your calendar feed link into the box
  • Name your calendar in "Subscription options"
  • Your calendar will appear under "Other Calendars" on the left

Please note that once you subscribe to your calendar feed, your KAYAK Trips will automatically sync to your calendar application.

Search preferences.

You can change how prices display on KAYAK by selecting your preferred currency. Here’s how to do it:

How do I switch currency on the KAYAK website?

Open the menu on the left-hand rail, click the currency symbol at the bottom, and select your preferred one.

How do I switch currency on the KAYAK app?

Open the KAYAK app, navigate to Profile settings, scroll to find ‘Currency’ and select your preferred one.

Can I book in my currency on KAYAK?

KAYAK displays prices in your selected currency, but the final payment currency is determined by the airline or travel agency you book with. Verify the currency on the provider’s checkout page after redirect.

If your preferred currency isn’t available in the currency selector, contact our customer support team.

You can change your region on KAYAK by selecting your preferred location. Note this will update your language too. Here’s how to do it:

Open the menu on the left-hand rail, click the flag symbol at the bottom, and select your preferred region.

How do I switch region on the KAYAK app?

Open the KAYAK app, navigate to Profile settings, scroll to find ‘Region’ and select your preferred one.
