1 Traveler + 52 Places to Visit = 1 Site and App to plan and manage it all.

For the second year in a row, when The New York Times decided to send a traveler to all of their 52 Places to Visit in just one year, they turned to us to help plan and manage this epic trip. And this year’s intrepid traveler is none other than journalist Sebastian Modak. Using our data scientists’ talents and travel experts’ savvy, we’ve plotted out a 12-month itinerary for the Times’s intrepid adventurer that takes them to every single one of these 52 Places.

To help plan the best possible route, we took various factors into consideration including the best time to book and fly, seasonality, route efficiency and unique events of 2019 that scored these cities their spot on the Times’  list. That way, Sebastian could experience every destination over the next 12 months. Plus, we wanted to make sure we weren’t sending him to a great summer destination in the winter — and vice versa. In the end, using tools like our Travel Hacker Guide and internal data, we’ve confidently crafted a start-to-finish journey that dreams are made of.

Want to try your hand at planning a trip around the world? Here are a few tips:

1. Know when to go

Traveling at the most efficient (and least expensive) time is essential to a world journey. Our When to Fly guide fills you in on the top deal destinations for every month. Plus, you can also see our recommendations on how far in advance to book your trip, based on region. And with our Anywhere tool, you can get customized insights for your trip as well. You can pop in your home airport and where you’re going, then see what time of year to expect crowds, how much you should spend on your flight and more.

2. Track prices

A global journey is no rash decision. Set Price Alerts for the destinations you want to hit, so that you can track prices for flights and hotels, and book when you’re getting a good deal.

3. Not sure where to start? Try the top destinations of the year

Our Travel Hacker Guide gathers data from over 1.5 billion annual travel searches to find out where travelers are headed for the year. Whether you need inspiration or want to learn more about a particular destination, it’s your guide to planning an epic trip.

4. Go on your budget

So, maybe an around-the-world journey isn’t in the cards. Whatever your budget, plug it into our Explore tool and we’ll show you where in the world you can fly to.
