All the cool kids are doing it.

By “it” we mean flying – as the surge in spring travel transitions into summer vacation, we expect to see airports reporting record numbers. That’s why we created a list of ways to cut down on travel craziness so you can spend more time focusing on your trip ahead – get more details below.

The pre-check

The week’s latest travel stories and news.

  • You’ve got options.

Some airlines are providing travelers with options, like refunds, if they’re uncomfortable with maskless passengers.
  • Airlines are cutting back.

Many domestic airlines are reporting a rise in demand – yet another indication of travel’s rebound.
  • Our neighbors still need shots.

The gov announced that it would extend the vaccination requirement for non-US visitors entering the country by land or sea.
  • More flying colors.

Condor Airlines, a German brand known for its painted planes, is adding new direct routes between the US and Frankfurt.

How to reign in the crazy.
For anyone who has traveled this past spring, you probably noticed that things have become a tad more hectic than usual. Though our golden rule is to be kind and patient (especially to airport staff), here are some tricks that may help you skip the crazy:

  • Prep before the airport.

From checking in ahead of time to making sure your carry-on is the right size, getting organized prior to leaving can make it easier for you to sail through lines.
  • Get in touch.

If your flight gets canceled and you need to get in touch with the airline, double up: call while you’re in line at the counter to see who can help you first.
  • Opt to order ahead.

Though packing food is the quicker and easier option, certain brands and apps make it easy to order ahead online, so you can grab and go to your gate.
  • Skip waiting for your ride.

Depending on where you booked your rental car, some agencies have the option to “skip the line” when you’re ready to pick up your vehicle.

Tricks of the trade

Ready for a nap?
For something that entails a lot of sitting, why does air travel make us so sleepy? According to Travel + Leisure, jetlag usually occurs when you’re traveling from one time zone to another and can arise due to dehydration, change in elevation/pressure, stress and germs. The best way to avoid jetlag is to skip the caffeine and alcohol before your flight, drink plenty of water, get up to walk or stretch every 30ish minutes and take your vitamins. #TheMoreYouKnow
